Oil pressure sensor issues

I have been getting the oil light staying on when I start the engine. Generally, I shut it off and restart and it goes off. However lately I have been getting the check engine message. Today I pulled the error code and my dealer says it is showing a faulty oil pressure sensor. He told me how to check with a multi meter, but the test seems inconclsive. Anyone else have experince with this issue?

Second one I have heard of. When I read about the electronics and sensors on the Spyder, there was no doubt about buying the extended warranty.

very easy fix

I had mine replaced after getting the same symptoms. Pretty sure its error code P0520,

If the check engine light comes and stays on;
While the engine is running, use the M button on your bars to get to the total hour, then hold in the button and flash high beams 5 times in a row. Then you will see the codes.

Another symptom I had was, starting up and the oil light not going away.
Shut down motor, restart and light would be gone.

Its a real easy fix, just have to wait for the part to arrive. Mine showed up in about a week and it takes about 25 minutes to replace including panel removal.

Yep. Thats what mines doing and the same code.

Good news is if you unhook the connector it thinks all is fine.

Waiting on the part now.

I did this repair to a member of Spyderlovers today. I can't remember there names, but its a burnt orange custom painted Spyder from Canada. Anyway, they had the same problem. Code 0520 Oil pressure switch. By the book it says remove the connector, and measure resistance from the post of the sensor, to ground. It should have 0 ohms resistance bike turned off, and infinant with unit running. The switch ended up being bad, and we replaced it. Seems to of fixed the problem. I'll get the part number for you.
