• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

oil level

For the benefit of newbies and vets, what are the ramifications of too much oil in the reservoir? I imagine this is more common than not.

Have to agree..!!

:agree: it wants to toss it out somewhere. Crankcase breather runs up to the airbox so a likely place to go. Best is to suck some out....

Brian, you should suck some out. When was the last time you had your air filter changed? Your conditions are even harsher than they are in Las Vegas so you should be changing the air filter at least as often as the manual shows. It is probably choked full of sand and oil if your tank is over filled.

I had my oil changed at a dealer. I believe they rushed the draining which doesn't surprise me. It takes about an hour to properly drain the oil to where it don't drip out anymore. I should get back to changing my own oil but I hate competing for carport floor space with every freakin insect that crawls in the desert plus the sweat flies. Plus, there are no sky hooks around to get off the ground. I'm too old for that crap! LOL. You're right though Ann. Thanks.

I got a good laugh creating the picture in my mind of you swatting bugs and changing your oil. :roflblack:

First -Whats overfull
Where is it reading on the stick. Way above or just over the full mark.

Makes a differance.
Broad term

Why not just take off the drain plug a couple of seconds. I was thinking of cutting a hole on the shield where the drain plug is and maybe making a screw on cover for it. Its just a piece of plastic, you could modify it to make the drain plug more accessible. I had it off yesterday changing the sway bar. It was leaking anyway.

Either way one must follow the directions to the letter when checking the oil level. If you check it cold, you will get a false reading and think it needs more oil than it should have.
