There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Oil Leak

So I noticed some decent oil puddles under the Spyder the past 2 days (insert Harley joke here). Anyway I took off the two top panels this morning for a quick peek. I see noting on the top of the motor. I have the intake installed so no air box issue. (There is a tube directing overflow to intake).

I can see a puddle on the plastic tray on the right side bottom, just to the left of the fan housing. I plan on removing the bottom panels later today and having a better look. I thought I would post up here just to see if anyone had a similar experience.

Took my RTS-SM5 to the shop last week as I had a oil leak about 6 inches in diameter and the problem was a bad oil sensor that was leaking if my lower pans were not already off I might not have noticed it for quite a while.

Directely under the front right bottom of the motor you will see a nut with two wires comming from it

Thanks I will take another look when I get home form work. This sucks I really wanted to ride tonight and tomorrow since the weather is a little cooler.
I guess I could, just need to pack some extra oil.

So is this something that usually just needs to be tightened or is it actually cracked/broken and needs replacing?

It has to be installed with the proper loctite... can't remember the number.. but it's a waterproof one.. like maybe 722 I think.

It's a $10 part. If you think this is the culprit, you might want to just install a new one to make sure....

I was thinking the same thing. My dealer is double checking that the one they show in stock is there. If so I may run up there and grab it. I will tear her all the way down tonight and check it out.

OK en route to pick up a switch. If anyone knows what Locktite I need please post I will pick some up on my way home. I have the manual at home I am sure it lists it in there, but I would rather grab it while out.

Ask the dealer when you are there I'm sure they will sell it to you with the sensor. Also you don't have to tear down the bike just remove the bottom panel under the bike on the right side and leave it off. It will also will help with the hot foot problem. If you find that the sensor is leaking it has to be replaced or at least mine did. Mine was leaking through the center between the nut and the sensor.

Got the part. Box fan on bike cooling it off right now. The part came with a yellow thread locker already on the threads. Perhaps that is why there is an updated part for the p/n.

UPDATE.......Yeah my sensor was bone dry.

The oil is coming from a main engine/trans section more in the middle under the starter. I degreased the whole area real well and then added 1.3 qts of oil to bring it to the high side of the full mark. It was bone dry when checked per the correct BRP method:yikes:.

It lost that much in about 160 miles. I plan to drive it another 50-150 tomorrow and keep a close eye on the level. That should allow it to leak onto the clean motor and make it easy for the dealer to see where it's coming from on Tues. Appointment made, it's outtta my hands now.

Ok so I just got from my dealer with my Spyder:clap:.

Turns out it was the clutch cover gasket, took some cash and worse yet 17 days to get it repaired. I would like to throw out some mad props to Gater at Jim Potts Motor Group for getting it completed when promised and under the estimate.

I am back rolling and plan on enjoying the nice weather by racking up some major miles this weekend! (After I work a little Saturday morning, hey I gotta pay for the repair right?)
