• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil in filter box

What causes oil to end up in the filter box? Lots of oil, the filter fins is submerged in the oil. Have not seen it but that is what the shop said. I do not do my own oil changes, or top up oil. Spyder is young and only had two services done by dealer. In with a unrelated problem....i hope (P 1614).....and they saw the oil while working on the bike.

Common situation. There are several approaches to cure it. You might do a search for catch can.

Found it thanks..... So solution is a catch can and a non paper air filter or just the air filter???? Also check oil level not to full, being to full being the reason why it pushes oil from engine through breather into air box. Normally all oil vapors is vented from engine to air filter where it gets sucked through throttle body to burn with the fuel!!! Am I correct on this?

You could use an oiled filter, such as the Green Filter or K&N. A factor on the RS is overfilling the oil (adding to the line when cold or not screwing in th dipstick to check). The RT has fewer problems in this regard, but could be the same. There is also a problem in the head(?) that causes it to happen. The dealer may be able to find the solution for that on BossWeb? I don't know if there is a service bulletin. It was reported here by Jeff.

On mine there was so much oil it was dripping from the right side of the air box onto the tupperware behind the fan. Even with that much oil I did not get any on the filter. I put a piece of open cell foam in the hose as temporary fix. I will get the head fix when it's time to adjust the valves.

OIL PROBLEM

If I were you I would be nervous....You said you have never put oil in the Spyder ...only the dealer has...Then "They" have been overfilling it by quite a bit.....which would make me nervous about the competance of the techs that are working on your Spyder.....Unfortunately this seems to be a common occurance...what's not un-common is they still charge about $125 per hour for shoddy work....Too bad there's only ONE COWTOWN...Mike
