There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. oil in air box BRP fix?

After 2 years in production and the new RT's out, why do you think it's taking BRP so long to find a fix for the oil in the air box leak? If they can't come up with a fix, why don't they just tell the dealers to use some of the mods people out there are using for this fix? I'm no mechanic so I'll just have to wait for a BRP fix:gaah:

Probably because any home made fix might be considerd tampering
with smog control, The fed's don't like that.:yikes:

I installed this mod...

which does not interfere with epa regs because it breathes easily in both directions. I have it installed on my three machines and a few others. As of this date it stops the oil migration to the air box. In the attached picture the gold you see at the bottom is not oil. It is the fuel filter screen. There is screen on each side of the filter media. The blue at the top is next to the final line of defense which is the top fuel filter screen. The blue is a stranded fiber which is slightly more dense than the yellow open cell foam.

The filter media I use has been soaking in used motorcycle synthetic oil for several weeks now. I checked it yesterday and there is no deterioration.

If you want to try this and can't find the media or fuel filter screen pm me and I'll lend a hand. /Ken

Not saying it does'nt work, I've been using a similar foam for almost a year now, IT WORKS. What i ment was BRP can't recommend anything not certified by the EPA. They can't even recommend the HINDEL for street use. ANY Modification's = intake/exhaust/ect. Not certified is considerd tampering.

Any mod that

breathes as easily as mine does won't affect the polution system. We, the riders, know that, however; I know what you mean about tampering... I suspect they are testing some CC vent tubes very similar to the ones we are currently using.

They just don't want any restriction on the air movement in the cc vent. And as expected they have to fly it by the EPA too.

Many, just like you and I, are using the fuel screen and foam tubes. By using this system we are burning the oil vapor and allowing the case to vent naturally.

They will eventually put one like these on the market or something very similar. /Ken

crankcase vent

I think that all in all the best fix for oil in the air box is the air filter/water separator catch can with external filter. If properly built and installed they work very well and with little restriction to crankcase venting. When there is no vent line running to the air box you can be assured that there will be no oil there. Actually I have tried several methods including the foam up the hose and foam in a in-line filter, but the catch can works best for me.nojokeOthers may have different experiences but this is just my experience.:f_spider:

Any more thoughts on selling the tubing, filter, screens, hose couplings and clamps as a completed assembly, ready to install?

Okay, I thought you were only selling the oil change kits. Where do I find more info and pricing on your crankcase tube filter kit?

Just ran across this----guess the home made catch can isn't a original idea on this forum.:f_spider:

Spyder

There are very few original ideas, mine included... most of what i have posted here has been done before on other bikes. Improvise, adapt, overcome...

:2thumbs:

Sure would like to see you back on a Spyder----going to miss all that R&D.nojoke
