• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Would like to get opinions on what optional engine oil make/type I can safely use in my 2012 RT SE5.

What I'm looking at is:
1. Valvoline 4T Full Synthetic 10W-40
2. Mobil 1 Racing 4T Advanced Full Synthetic 10W-40
3. Castrol Power RS Racing 4T Full Synthetic 10W-40

Not going to get into a 'what's better discussion, but your choice number one meets all BRP requirements, is readily available and has a long history of great service in the Spyder and other bikes.

I don't know a thing about the oils you listed but here's what BRP says

Use the XPS SYNTHETIC BLEND OIL (SUMMER GRADE)
(P/N 293 600 121) or a 5W 40 semi-synthetic
(minimum) or synthetic.
motorcycle oil meeting the requirements for
API service SL, SJ, SH or SG classification.
Always check the API service label
on the oil container.
NOTICE
To avoid damaging the clutch, do not use
a motor oil meeting the API service SM or ILSACGF-4
classification.
Clutch slippage will occur.

any one of those will work, have worked, are working well. The Valvoline is available online from Walmart and they will ship it for instore pickup no charge. It is also frequently on sale there for about 32.50 for a six pack. This is how I buy it. There maybe similar deals on the other oils. I know the Valvoline because I have used it and the dino racing oil for years. It was readily available and cheap and it worked well for me,my three primary requirements.

What..!!

You missed one...Amsoil sold here by BajaRon with filters washers and all...I don't do oils but that is a good one...

Hi Trbayth,

Re: your link goes to dino oil

I just did a Google search using the OP's description as I do not shop at Walmart.

Good catch,
