• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Filters

Where is a good place to get the new longer filter for the 2012 RT SE5? I want to buy the filters, seals, oil etc. and do my own oil changes based on the new maintenance schedule (4,600 mi. between oil changes).

Andy, as far as I know, the new longer transmission filter is only avail from a dealer. I've bought a couple at $7.85 (or thereabouts). Since I have a bunch of Hi-Flo brand motor oil filters that I got earlier on I've never bought any from the dealer and am not sure of prices. As to oil, I personally perfer Amsoil which is rated Jaso MA2, and lab tested it against Valvoline which is also MA2 but found Amsoil held up better. Personally I wouldnt' use Mobil1 as its not rated as high. You can find dealers on this forum for all but the new transmission filter.

I get my filters, "O" rings, etc., from BajaRon. Best price in town and service second to none. I have, on 2 Spyders, ridden 77,000 miles using Royal Purple 10W40 Automotive Synthetic oil without ANY issues on engine or transmissions (the first Spyder was a 2008 SE5 (43,000 miles) and I now have a 2010 RT SM5). I do my own oil changes every 5000 miles. The RT has never been in the shop except for warranty work (now has 34,000 miles). I have never worried about "what if" and warranty. Too many riders worry too much and when their Spyder has a little "hick-up" they want to sell it.
