There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. OIL DRAIN PLUG

Tried and True Method to loosen Drain Plugs

"A friend of mine had the same problem he use a sharp screwdriver put it along the edge and lightly tapped it with a hammer and a loosened it up." mentioned above.

This basic method has been used for ages on hard to loosen plugs or those stripped out. Mechanics often use a chisel which has a sharp edge, placed at an angle, hit sharply with a hammer. Takes much less than you expect to loosen it. Worked on my '11 and last year on the '14.

Since they don't list this valve for our Spyders ....what size did you get ??????
Haven't put it on the Spyder yet but have on my BMWs (bikes) my Jeep and my daughter's Jeep.

Had to tap my daughter's Jeep pan as I buggered the threads on the aluminum pan taking out the old plug.

Used an 18 x 1.5 tap plug. Worked like a charm ... better than a $900.00 replacement engine oil pan.

Only hangs down about 3/4 of an inch which isn't much more than some oil pan plugs are anyway.

YIKES!

Thanks .....but I discovered you don't need to know the vehicle .....you can just buy it by the SIZE.....12 x 1.5....and ...14 X 1.5 they sell both .....Mike

My experience with my first oil change - 1330 engine

Reposting this info. from my 9-20-14 post - fyi - good luck!

Hi all, I think I damaged the transmission drain plug using a T40 Torx on it. I ordered a new drain plug as I don't want to deal with that one again...It was "mushy" when taking it off and I used a torque wrench, to spec, putting it on.

I received the new one today and it IS a 6MM allen that is the correct wrench size for the transmission drain plug based on this replacement plug received.

The engine drain plug T45 Torx worked perfectly.

FYI....good luck!

Here's a few pictures of my new transmission drain plug:

Its really not that difficult guys.....Seat the wrench and don't tighten it with gorilla strength and you won't have an issue. You really only need to snug it down. If your stripping out those bolts your doing something wrong.

OIL CHANGE

Just finished an oil change ( for Spyderfest )....decided I wouldn't take a chance on the old rubber washers but couldn't find a new rubber substitute .....my buddy said just use a FIBER one .....they actually work better - longer.......so that's what I did .......I've warmed up the Spyder a few times and so far no leaking .......we'll see..........Mike ...............................................6/1/20,,,,I now have over 250 hrs and still no leaks ...
