• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Oil consumption 2010 RT SE5

Anyone had any issues with oil consumption? I had to add 2/3 quart after a 1200 mile ride. Had to add another 2/3 to get it to the shop after another 750 miles. Funny.....dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the bike. This thing let me down twice last year, I am getting to where I don't have the confidence to take a long ride.

Sounds like the dealer did not care to much about the problem.

They could of at least tell you to monitor the oil usage and come back or do a compression and leakdown test.

I think my oil consumption getting better. I have a 2010 RT S the last oilchange I've have over 3000 miles on it and have not added any oil. I've used aims oil on the third oil change brought the :spyder:new in August 2010. I've over 320000 miles on it now. Change oil every 5000 miles. The most I ever added between changes is about 1/3 gt.

Re-cap..!!

these motor do use oil..recommended checking every 500 miles and they do get better with time. I check my oil after every long trip which is every weekend. Usually have to add some every other time but less now with almost 9000 miles. How much oil will vary with many things. Weather, ryding time, roads traveled, ryding styles but seems to be the nature of the engine. Don't know why she let you down before but if it was oil related and not from lack of oil then have the pressure checked. But do check oil regularly...

I found out that some of the synthetic oils get sucked into the motor a lot faster than regular oils. Still have to have a oil that is for a wet clutch? I think is what it supposed to have. Anyway Good old fashioned regular oil works great. has a little synthetic stuff in it but not all of it. have over 33000 miles and haven't had issues with oil useage.

I go through about 1/2 quart per 1,000 miles. 2010 RT with just over 25,000 miles.
