• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a 2014 RTL, it has sat all winter and it does not have 3,000 miles yet. Should I have an oil change done?:dontknow:

I did.

I had 1500 miles on mine a couple of weeks ago when i had mine changed. The next day I left for Daytona on a 2300 mile vacation. Better safe than sorry.

Although, I did check it before the change and it was very, very clean.

I would make sure you have the 3K mile service done with the dealer. The manual says 9300 miles or once a year. With your low mileage I doubt that you would have an issue waiting until you got the 3k on it. Or if you decide to have the dealer do it make sure they will go ahead and get the 3k service out of the way at the same time. My 3k service cost almost $400. Depending on the dealer this has varied from as little as $200 to as much as $500. Just make sure they don't sell you a valve "check" or adjustment. The 1330 triple valves do not need adjusting or checking. Good luck and have a great riding reason. The 14 RT is the best touring machine made IMHO.

I have the identical situation as you - year, model, miles, winter, etc. AND I am going to have mine serviced,l etc. before I go to Spyderfest just for my own comfort level. It's your call.
BIG F

Curious?

I am wondering how many miles are on the Spyder?
That would determine my answer.
My .02 cents worth.

Your good...

unless you left her out in the snow and ice (even then) nothing has gone wrong with your oil. The only reason they change it at 3,000 miles is to flush out the assembly residues and wear in residues. Changing it sooner that later is a waste, imo, there are dealers through out if you should need a change along the way... But it is a choice and if you feel better having it done don't wait the 9,300 for the next change..jmo:thumbup:

The basic instructions say to do that first oil change on the triple at about 3,000 miles. Subsequent oil changes are when you get another 9,300 miles (12,300) on the odometer--OR--once a year, whichever comes first.

Mine--I put my :ani29: to bed with 9,600 on the odometer. My oil was changed at 4,500 miles (I had to shop around to find oil filter and change kit. They were not available last spring--depending on who you talked to.)

Following specs--I still have about 3,000 miles to go before I should be changing the oil. I plan on having the oil changed within the next month and depending on miles this season--may have another change before I put the :spyder2: to bed in October or so. I usually exceed 10,000 miles per season.
