• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I known you need a 5mm an a 6mm allen key to drain the oil and change the oil & trans filter on a 2014 can am spyder which one is for the oil drain plug the 5mm or the 6mm ?:opps:

6mm for drain plug.

I actually recommend a 6mm hex bit socket and 3/8" ratchet rather than a hex key. The key is too easy to not have inserted fully and end up buggering the plug. It gets tight with the heat cycles.

Little checking..!!

the one that fits tightly. If its loose you'll strip the head... drains use the larger one...

Some drain plugs are Torx and not Allen. Be sure you're using the correct tool. An Allen will go into the Torx hole and give you some bite. But it will likely slip and round out the hole if you put the needed amount of pressure on it to do the job.

When or what year did they change that?

Not sure. But I think people using Allen wrenches on the Torx drain plugs is a big reason so many had problems with rounding the hole out. Some have both plugs in Torx, some have 1 Torx and 1 Allen and some have both in the Allen configuration. This tells me that BRP switched at some point and just used stock on the production line until that version was gone.

Thanks for the info. I have other people using my garage to change their oil and filters on their Spyders, I haven't had any like that yet.
