• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Change

After draining the oil today I put 4 quarts in before starting it. The manual says put in 3 then run for 3 minutes. Any idea why they tell you that? All 4 seemed to fit in the tank....

good question

Good question, inquiring minds want to know, I am sure there is a valid reason however I have never done it this way on any of my prior bikes . I followed the instructions and put in the 3 then ran the engine and put in the other quart, however now you have me wondering as well, some one in the know will have the answer I hope. :hun:

Corvette dry sump oil change procedure is the same. Run engine, add last quart. I think it is done to make sure you don't overfill in case old oil wasn't completely drained.

When adding oil to a completely drained crankcase / oil tank (in some cases), the oil doesn't necessarily fill every nook and cranny with only gravity helping it. When the engine is run, the oil pump fills all the voids and effectively distributes the oil throughout the engine. The only risk by adding all the oil at once is an "artifically" high oil level that MAY result in some slight (momentary) foaming and possibly oil being forced out the breather.
