• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just got back from dealer and bought all the fixens for an oil change

Oil filter 17.49
O-ring 4.99
Washers 1.99 X 2
Oil 13.95 x 5
-------------------------------------
Total with tax $108.72 :yikes: Canadian about $99.00 American

My questions to you are - is their a cheaper way to buy this stuff ? When did BRP switch to a blended oil and is it as good as the 100% synthetic .:dontknow:

Thanks in advance for your replies.

BRP switched earlier this year to the Blend. NO - it's not as good in my opinion.

Many have used other oils - just make sure they are properly rated- the specs are out here somewhere.

The O-rings and Washers and Filter you are basically stuck with OEM - but you can find the filters for around $13 online.

Oil change on Spyder is pretty easy - but can be a bit messy too!

There is no way it could be as good!! First of all they never state at what ratio it is blended; a teaspoon of pure synthetic in a quart would technically be blended.(don't assume it is 50/50 because it is probably not). Pure 100% synthetic that carries the motorcycle rating is the only way to go for me. I would never pay 13.95 for a quart of oil when I know I can buy MUCH better oil at half that price and it carries the JASCO MA rating.:doorag:

HDX just ordered us up some Redline last night and I got MM's green filter to go with it and the kit to clean it with too.

Filter and AMS 10-40 synthetic, no need for a new o-ring or washers everytime you change the oil. 56 bucks and I'm done for 2500 miles.

:agree:I bought Motul 7100 ester 100% synthetic [api sg/sh/sj/sl wet clutch anti slipping technology, suitable for catalytic converters] at Royal Distributing $53.95 4L plus tx plus a filter for 17.99 at the dealer.Spyder only calls for 4 liters.I did the same as you when I did my first oil change,o-rings washers etc. This time it's still $82. nothing is cheap these days.:gaah:
