There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Ok so got bike back from dealer for wiring short and finally got to my oil change. Drained oil changed filter. Put 3 qts in and started bike. Shut bike off added another quart and there is no oil on the dipstick. 4 quarts in and not even showing on the dipstick. What am I missing. It's a 2014 rs s manual. Thanks. This is my first time but geez how hard can it be.

The Only reliable way to check (Like your owners manual States) is to run the Spyder "On Roads Up to operating temperature"? In other words go for a 10 Minute drive where you go thru 3-4 gears up to 45-50 or so and then come back- Shut Off- Turn On and let it idle 30 seconds-Shut Off- Then Check!!

 You forgot to read the manual... :banghead:
The enclosed directions are very easy to follow..........

.............But you must follow them to the LETTER! nojoke

All of the above...

But if you can't get out to ryde you should at least run it till the fan comes on. Then check and top off..

Your fine. If you drained the oil and added 4 qts your right where you need to be. Don't over think the oil level on the RS. You know it's in there, now go ride and enjoy yourself!

Well I thought I read the manual. Maybe not in enough detail. Unfortunately the bike has another issue which is going to prevent me from taking it for a ride. When the key is on and the parking brake is on the spring gets hot. I don't mean warm I mean smoke was coming from the area. The spring no longer retracts the brake pedal enough to even close the switch. If I hold the pedal up to close the switch it doesn't heat up. I saw some sparks when the spring wasn't making good contact on one of its ends. This sure seems strange to me.

That don't sound right to me either - obviously must be a short in there. Looking at the wiring diagram for my RS2011 it looks like it's a simple reed switch for the parking brake sensor. On mine if you follow the wire up it has a single connector up near the battery behind the rear left-hand panel - however as mentioned mines a 2011 so it may be different from yours. It would be worth disconnecting this because from what I can work out it eventually connects back to the dial cluster rather than being independently fused.

Here's the diagram from my 2011 manual which may help - the abbreviation for the parking brake switch is HBS (I'm guessing it means Hand Brake Switch:-)). You may want to consider an electronic copy of the workshop manual for yours if you haven't got it already - I believe it's available online from Green Manuals.

That could explain why it's not blowing a fuse. I thought I saw a fuse labeled park break though. In the manual it said if the ((!)) was flashing check fuse 1 I think. I checked it and it was fine.

As mentioned the wiring for the 2011 may be different from your 2014 but here's a link to a copy of the 2011 wiring diagram on my onedrive which may be useful for you:

From what I can see it connects directly to the cluster, the cluster is then fused by F11. The normal brake switch appears to be on F7 (along with tail lights, number plate light etc)
