• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OEM windscreen mount, differently

I have the OEM windscreen (don't recall which one, it's the shorter one and I cut another 3" off of that) and I also have the low cowl cover. I want to be able to switch between them easily, and I find the windscreen very fussy to install. There's a bar that goes through the front mount that bolts to the bike, and then you have to hold the mount up and keep the rubber washers from falling off as you put the screws in. Not impossible but more work than it has to be. The mount really looks like it was designed for an adjustable height windshield. The front cowl on the other hand just has a set of hooks that clip onto the bar; two screws and you're done. So I went to the mill and modified the OEM mount into the same kind of hook. Note that in these pics all the cuts are raw aluminum, I left them like that for the pics to show where I cut. I painted everything that's visible afterwards. Now two screws to remove the cowl, two screws to install the windscreen. In case you can't tell by my other mods I'm basically looking for a goldwing when I need to travel that I can strip down to a sportbike in 5 minutes or less once I get there.

I milled the slot so it's pretty much a press fit over so it pops on. I also had to narrow it by about an eighth of an inch per side and taper the bottom a bit.

And the cowl from the front so you can see the hooks grabbing the bar.

Nice. Might I make a small suggestion. I'm still not certain what Spyder model, year et al your mods are for. Check my signature. Add that type of info to your signature -- click on your name to the left & go to your profile then click on "about me." Just type in the Signature box what ever you please. It will show in every post you make. Just a thot.
