• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Odometer reset to 0

I had a new module installed so that the gas gauge would work. The gauge worked fine but the odometer was showing 0 miles. I brought this to the attention of the tech and after checking with the shop manual, he said there was nothing he could do. The ODO could not be set to the true accumulated mileage. I don't believe this for a minute, and would like comments from all you good folks. I don't like the idea that the ODO is showing some 3400 miles less than actual mileage.

That's my understanding... that it's not "re-setable". We don't want folks messing with mileage now, do we? :D

We had same situation on a Ducati my husband purchased. They had to declare "altered" mileage on the title to keep it legal, with an explanation.

my outlander had the speedo unit replaced and has o miles but the hour meter is still correct.for some reason the miles are stored in the speedo assy and the hrs in the ecu. They should have put a sticker somewhere that says the miles when it was replaced. Its the law!I have put many stickers on in the past, now I can reprogram the correct miles on new cars.

dltang has had two different clusters in her Spyder and they both could not be updated with her previous odometer reading. I questioned this when we first heard of it as it sounded fishy to me also but the explanation of not letting anyone fudge the odometer numbers was believable.

Yup, I had to write the mileage down off both my other clusters so that I could add it to what is on this one to get my actual mileage. As mentioned, the hours are kept though. So unless you were driving lightening fast, there is no way you could have your total hours listed with the low mileage reading of the new odometer. I am not sure, but it seems like my dealer said something about being able to tell total mileage when hooked up to the computer. I will ask when I go in this week with mine.

Thanks for the feedback re the non-resetable ODO. I put a copy of the original work order in the owners manual. It shows the mileage when the bike went into the shop.

Thanks again,

Jack H.

thats what i was told when my mode button on dash quit working.:hun:

so i decided not to and just use the mode button on handlebar:spyder:
so i could keep track of miles a little easier..

Yes, The D.M.V. is vary strict about miles traveled on a specific vehicle when it is sold to another. I have run in to this on occasion when trying to get vehicles registered after the dash had been replaced and the seller had to jump through all kinds of legal hoops to provide proof off the actual miles the vehicle had traveled.
