First, thanks to this group, learning a lot. This is my wife's journey into bikes (I know this is not a motor). I had a minor journey in my youth - she had never been outside a cage in any form. She wanted a HD and I encouraged her to see about something she might enjoy and where I didn't have to invest so much time to learn how to ride us 2-up. The spyder RT is the solution! I am not a mechanic - just handy enough to make small problems real big!
The spyder really loves 4k and above - just feel it is the best advice. If you don't like the smell of a hot spyder in your garage just let it cool outside and it will smell just fine when you put it away. Fill the gas slow then wait for the splash through the vents. if you want great gas mileage a large machine with two big people is not the way to go. Lean means more than lean. We just rode from the coast back into Silicon Valley and we really put our backs into the lean - now that was fun and a shocking difference! BajaRon's bar will be the new addition soon! My father owned an HD - he was a motor cop back in his day. I learned then that there are two kinds of HD owners - one that loves to ride an HD and the other that has an HD as the core of their personality. Asking some HD owners to give a wave is like asking a pitbull owner to take a walk with and your toy poodle - it just ain't gonna happen for all sorts of mysterious but obvious reasons. But, the person that will, that could be a cool person to have a beer with. Folks on SL can be damn funny - be careful when you are reading! Some of you folks have lead-lined back sides given how far you ride - we are taking the advice of going slow. We are really seeing most of Cali for the first time and loving it.
Last but certainly not least on this journey, the wife is really liking the no-pressure entry into learning to ride. Suddenly, next year's budget sounds like it will include another machine. As for me, I kind of like the idea of getting a bike (perhaps a BMW), but also like the idea of an ST. For those that travel with bike and trike - is that just as safe/fun as trike and trike?
Many thanks to this group - you have made the journey a whole lot of fun!:2thumbs: Oh, and you're really not posting unless you get one of these in!
