• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First, thanks to this group, learning a lot. This is my wife's journey into bikes (I know this is not a motor). I had a minor journey in my youth - she had never been outside a cage in any form. She wanted a HD and I encouraged her to see about something she might enjoy and where I didn't have to invest so much time to learn how to ride us 2-up. The spyder RT is the solution! I am not a mechanic - just handy enough to make small problems real big!

The spyder really loves 4k and above - just feel it is the best advice. If you don't like the smell of a hot spyder in your garage just let it cool outside and it will smell just fine when you put it away. Fill the gas slow then wait for the splash through the vents. if you want great gas mileage a large machine with two big people is not the way to go. Lean means more than lean. We just rode from the coast back into Silicon Valley and we really put our backs into the lean - now that was fun and a shocking difference! BajaRon's bar will be the new addition soon! My father owned an HD - he was a motor cop back in his day. I learned then that there are two kinds of HD owners - one that loves to ride an HD and the other that has an HD as the core of their personality. Asking some HD owners to give a wave is like asking a pitbull owner to take a walk with and your toy poodle - it just ain't gonna happen for all sorts of mysterious but obvious reasons. But, the person that will, that could be a cool person to have a beer with. Folks on SL can be damn funny - be careful when you are reading! Some of you folks have lead-lined back sides given how far you ride - we are taking the advice of going slow. We are really seeing most of Cali for the first time and loving it.

Last but certainly not least on this journey, the wife is really liking the no-pressure entry into learning to ride. Suddenly, next year's budget sounds like it will include another machine. As for me, I kind of like the idea of getting a bike (perhaps a BMW), but also like the idea of an ST. For those that travel with bike and trike - is that just as safe/fun as trike and trike?

Many thanks to this group - you have made the journey a whole lot of fun!:2thumbs: Oh, and you're really not posting unless you get one of these in!

My brother in law and his wife live next door to us and we both bought 2012 RT Ltd's in June of last year and we both get our wives up and take them riding every chance we get, it is trike and trike, so we both get to enjoy riding and being able to view the scenery more because of three wheels than we would with two wheels because of the "RELAX" feature of the Spyder. Enjoy you rides and may they be many. A Spyder gives more smiles per gallon than any other ride.:yes::yes:

Most of us:spyder2:owners are fun, happy, humorous, caring, helpful, sharing. Let's keep it up and we can make our life more meaningful than ever.:yes:God bless us all.

We must have friendlier Harley riders around here than y'all do out in Cali, KMacs. I get waves all the time from those guys. I even get asked to ride along with Harley riding buddies from time to time. They're not afraid to be seen with my machine.

Bike and Trike

I own a 2012 RTS SE5 and my hubby has a HD Roadglide. Bike and trike is safe and just as fun as trike/trike. Guess it depends on the bike rider. My husband feels comfortable/relaxed and safe on hid HD so it's enjoyable and fun. We went on a 2500 trip last summer to Mt/Yellowstone and saw all the sights and had a great time. Would suggest bike to trike communication gear so you can talk back and forth for scheduled and unscheduled stops and talk about what your expierencing. Enjoy the adventures to come!!!

We used to ride bike & trike...but then I got a Spyder too, and now my BMW just sits there.

Can't get my significant other off the back. We did 300 miles the other day and when we got close to home she still wanted to take the long way back!

The Spyder has been a real life changer for us. And my car might last forever because it never leaves the driveway!

Happy to see a spyder

Has been a life changer for us - and I can tell - she will be driving by summer. We don't see spydrs out here. Our neighbor - who rides a HD - just bought his retirement home outside of Nashville. He said he saw lots of them around the southeast. Yesterday one drive by us while in the car and my wife about knocked my head off trying to wave at it! They do seem to create real loyalty!

Enjoy

Hi KMacs,

Nice to hear you are enjoying you Spyder.

We are living in San Jose and purchased our Spyder in October 2012, we just crossed our 9,000 miles. we did the cost few times, LA Santa Barbara etc..., this weekend we are going to ride to Vegas, my wife didn't want to fly, she prefer to go on the Spyder, I guess lucky me.

It will be great to meet for a ride one of those days.

Have fun and be safe.
