Oakley Biker Sunglasses

Just picked up and ride tested my new Oakley "WindJacket" Sunglasses made for powersport enthusiests. These sunglasses are a version of oakleys split jacket sunglasses and come with a clear lens for night riding.
I bought the Ducati signature series because I wanted something other than black and the custom option was not available.

Since I have a light sensitive eye problem I need to wear good sunglasses. The wind jacket is an awesome riding sunglass because the air cannot get behind the lens and swirl in your eyes because of a breathable rubber gasket that attaches to the nose piece and the sides of the frames the gasket is also removable if you want to wear them when not riding. Since I must wear contact lens to see this gasket also keeps out dust. at 70mph no wind or dirt entered behind the glasses. thge sunglasses come in a hard sturdy case that keeps them and the clear lens safe when stored also included in a soft cloth bag that is also used for cleaning the sunglasses.

What is also great about these sunglasses is the lens are interchangeable so you can buy all the other different lens that fit the split jacket line of sunglasses. The windjacket sunglasses come with warm gray lens that is not polarized so no rainbows when looking through a face shield or windshield but I need Black iridium lens which are on order .

The windjacket sunglasses also come with a removable head strp that clips in the end of the arms . I guess you would wear the straps if you were using a beanie helmet and worried about the wind blowing your glasses off, since I wear a full face helmet and leave the visor open

Bottom line I love these great quality sunglasses and enjoy riding while wearing them !!

Nice i was curious about how these worked in real world applications . Thanks for that ! im going to look into a set of thse i think.:2thumbs:

Glad this topic is brought up. My eyes are sensitive too and finding good glasses has been hard.

Years ago, had foam shielded glasses that I loved. Couple times in the rain and the foam disintegrated. Good money down the drain. Never invested real money in glasses again. Wrap around safety glasses have worked pretty well.

Going to keep an eye on this thread and look into a good pair of riding glasses.

Those r sweet !

I use cheaper stuff though, I really like these that i bought, day/night transition glasses. I wear them right into the night when riding. No need to switch out lenses or change glasses. Just keep on ridin !!!

Since I have an eye problem, need to be able to adjust lens for when my eyes change but I like your photochromatic glasses and its great not having to change lens for night riding.

First I enjoyed reading your Alaska trip blog and looking at all of your great pics
Thanks.:D :2thumbs:

Since I have light sensitive eyes caused by KC (keraticonus) and having to wear contact lens to be able to see clear, I have to buy good quality sunglasses and Oakley has what I need . I have taken my Oakley half jacket sunglasses waterskiing, wakeboarding, white waterrafting (all watersports done with straps attached to sunglasses), snowmobiling and my sunglasses have survived when the lens get scratched I buy replacement lens for the frames and also Oakley sells replacement parts for the frames too.

Yeah $270 is abit steep, hopefully it'll show up on Standard Issue soon :~\

:agree:

I checked out a pair of these a few days ago. Although they are nice I found them to be not worth the $$$. And this is coming from an Oakley junkie.

I just bought wileyX ROUT with transitional lens and I see why they are the standard issues.
Optic quality is really good it does not fog!
Too bad it does not get dark when I am driving as it needs direct sunlight but somehow it keeps my eyes comfortable. Also, it's just little tight on my big'ol head...

I like the way windjacket look. I will have to go to an Oakley retail store to try one on.

Glad you were on the ride with us!

My eye issue is different. Sometimes out ryding, my eyes will go bloodshot. It looks like I did something more illegal than going over the recommended speed limit.

Not a good look...

All Oakley stuff is expensive-- but it comes with lifetime replacement. You scratch them or break them-- they give you a new pair. :2thumbs:

I like the look of the Oakleys, but I like the transitional lens. I don't want to have to stop and switch out the lenses. nojoke

I can't wear contacts so I have glasses and they are huge. Take a look at my avatar. They are big and round. Consequently, I've had to get riding goggles that cover the entire glasses. Perhaps there is something out there that would help me short of "prescription"?

Hi Mouthpiece

Prescriptions can be put into most Oakley products but is expensive to do so. Have you tried a dark Safety glasses. We have some clear safety glasses at work that go right over eyeglasses, they are big but they work great.

I know exactly what you mean sometimes in the car with the heat on the windows rolled up my eyes turn red and also after I get done riding my :f_spider: with out my windjackets on as the wind swirls in behind my sunglasses.

One time I got stopped at a police check point for DUI and I had to show the cop my contact lens card and explain to him why my eyes were red and nothing illegal was going on. :yikes:

I was thinking about getting this and I called Oakley and windjacket can not be ordered with transitional lens.
By the way, they are $220 US.
