• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

now this is how you carve a pumpkin

I carved one with a .50 BMG once. Only took one shot. Tuff telling where the eyes, nose, mouth were tho.

The .50 is a bit "heavy" for gourds...
Handguns in the .38 to .45 range (NO magnums), seem to work best, with the least mess! :2thumbs:

I was working at a gun, archery shop at the time, and the owner let me take his .50cal and a handful of shells. we had a 5 gal water jug with red food coloring, a basket ball sized pumpkin, and a few cinder blocks to destroy. set 'em out at 500 yrds and had some fun. The water jug was quite impressive.

I took a couple of my "Toys" to a Bowling Pin match once...
My .38 Wad-cutter match pistol
My 357 magnum
One of my .45s
My Super-Blackhawk, in 44 mag.
And my .375 JDJ Hand-Cannon!

The .38 would leave the slug sticking out of the pin...
The .357 and the .45 would bury the slug
The .44 was tearing the pins up nicely...
But the .375: THAT was blowing sawdust 50 feet; out behind the pins!

They DID tell me that I'd had enough fun, and they quit allowing me to shoot! :D

I've never carved a pumpkin with a firearm, however back in '63 when I was in college I did harvest a Christmas tree using my 22cal. S&W.

Reminds me of a story. Was over to my cousins, and we here someone shooting a .22 near his back field. the neighbor had been clearing a hedgerow and his saw bar got stuck. So he figured shooting the tree with his pistol was a better alternative than walking a couple hunderd yards to his house. Had to shoot over a hundred times before we decided to investigate. Tree was probably 4" thick. Always wondered why someone would cary that much ammo while clearing brush, instead of a spare saw?

What a way to "pick up a spare".

It's an even better way to Lay them down!
The .44 mag was actually pitching them further off of the table, than the .375...
I think that it was simply imparting more energy into the pins. The .375 was cutting though them like they were soft butter! :D:yes::yes:
