• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now I know how it feels- not good at all

Wife and I were out tonight and just about to pull into a store parking lot when my phone rang. My 20 year old son called and started the conversation with "Dad, I totaled my car". I was stunned and all I could say was are you OK and where are you. Turned out he was only a mile from home, spun on a curve (wet roads) and hit a power pole head on. He was wearing his seat belt and the air bags deployed. He was OK, not a scratch although he'll be sore tomorrow. Reflecting on the conversation between my wife and myself as we were driving there, it's easy to see we were being brave for each other - until we got there when she was a mess and I was not far from it.

We live in a very rural area with no local police, and were very fortunate that a state police officer was sitting at the local Township building doing paperwork. The accident happended only a couple hundred feet away and he was able to assist my son in getting out of the car, especially since the power lines were down. His 2008 Dodge Avenger fortunately absorbed the hit just off front center and is likely totaled.

Tonight when I hit my knees I will give extra thanks to God. My son keeps apologizing and thinks I'm going to give him you know what for wrecking his car. I just hugged him and told him again the car can be replaced. And after reading the thread on wearing the gear every time, I'll probably take that more seriously for me as well. Just needed to talk. Thanks!
Denny

Very glad to hear that your son got through the accident without any serious injury. You are so right, the car can be replaced. You never know when an accident is going to happen, and when it does, its to late to grab for the seatbelt or wish you had the gear when riding a motorcycle.

Glad your son was not seriously hurt or worse. Things can happen so quickly that changes our lives forever. I just got a message on FB that a gentleman from my church is missing. His plane went down between Waycross and Valdosta, Ga. Rescue is still searching with no luck so far. Just yesterday he was laughing and smiling in church. You never know.

The car will be replaced and he'll feel better in a couple of weeks. (He's gonna br REAL sore for a few days though...)
As long as he can feel as if something was learned from this incident, then it's not a loss. At 20; most of us still probably thought that we were immortal. It takes experience with what life throws at you to realize that's just not the case.
Now go take him car shopping; it'll look good under the Christmas tree! ;)

Been there buddy, nothing worst. So glad he's okay. You folks are in our prayers.

Had an accident at 17. It exploded my image of there being some kind of invisible protective bumper around the car. I am a better driver for it. I'm so glad your son is OK. Had to be a heck of a scare for you, his parents. My thoughts are with you. Your son will learn from this. Enjoy your extra special Merry Christmas with all of your here to share it together.

Great he's ok, My son drove his car into a ditch when he was 16. Safety belt saved his life. As a parents we never get tired of reminding our children to wear their seat belts all time. As a :spyder2:rider we should never get tired of reminding our :spyder2:family to wear our (PPD) personal protection device all the time. I rather hear "you sound like a broken record" than a solemn bugle sound.

Every parents worse nightmare!!!! So glad your son is OK. Heck pf a way to get a different vehicle; but it's only a car and easily replaced. Children are priceless!!

Had my first accident at 16. I was crushed, and never wanted to drive again. The old man drove me over to a large concrete retaining wall in the 49 Chevy, and drove it against the wall to push the bumper back where it belonged. Then he told me to get in and drive. I learned some things that night...both about driving and about my old man. I'm sure your son did some learning, too. Thanks for being a concerned and understanding parent.

You should be ashamed of your self :banghead:for calling your father (the old man).

SO CALL YOUR FATHER INSTEAD OF THE OLD MAN

'Old Man' can be a title of endearment, as in "Me and my Old Man are going for a ride."

To each their own...

My dad actually liked it. That's what he called his old man. There is no reason to be ashamed.
