• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Not too happy with my F3

So now they say it will be another two weeks before they get the new transmission from Can Am. This what they said a few weeks ago. I don't even know if the new transmission will be susceptible to the same problem. So I am pretty disgusted with this whole process. My F3 was gone for six weeks when it had the piston problem. It looks like this problem will exceed that. I wonder if all F3 owners are experiencing reliability and repair issues.

This really sucks that your waiting all this time. The least brp could do is give you a bike to ride while yours is down.Hope they get it fixed soon and no more problems.

2 Months, 2 Days

Hey, don't feel bad about your bike being tied up for a month for piston problems, mine was tied up for 2 months, 2 days for head gasket!!!!!!!!
It could be worse.

When my motor was making the really bad sound, My dealer got BRP to send a new motor. BRP sent a SM6 motor not an SE6. So I had to wait on another one. In the mean time the dealer gave me their BRP rep's F3 to use until mine was working. Once I got it back I told them I wanted time added to my warranty. They added it with no problem.

The only other thing I will tell you is that if you were happy with the dealer before, the hold up now is most definatly BRP not the dealer. Also, BRP is very cheap when repaying the dealer for warranty work. The book says it takes 7 hours to swap out the motor. It took their BRP trained tech hours longer because it is so rarely done and he wanted to make sure he got it right. The dealer only got re-reimbursed by BRP for the 7 hours. They paid the tech for his time of course, but the dealership itself took the hit.

Good luck, and ask for a lot from BRP when it is all said and done. (I originally asked for two extra years but was okay with one) You never know unless you ask. Oh, the dealer had the bike cover for me that was on back order. the $250 one. BRP paid for that as well for my trouble.

I don't fault iMotorsports for this. They are doing all they can to fix the issue. But I do get the impression that they don't have the same diagnostic equipment BRP has since they had a hard time tracking down both problems my F3 has had. I just wonder what will happened next. I read a lot of posts of people who have trouble with their Spyder, all models. BRP needs to learn what the auto makers learned in the 80's, make a quality product or people will go else ware and not recommend there product to others. A guy at my job asked my about my F3, and I told him look at a Honda Valkyrie instead. He rides a two wheeler now, but he can always do a trike conversion later.

More FES SE6 woes

I had to have the frame replaced on my F3S, Out of action for 7 weeks,my dealer was first class with their work and addressing the problem but BRP offered no assistance till pressured into replacing the frame that was cracked they just wanted to put in the patch up and send me on my way. This puts the dealer in a fix as in Australia they are responsible because they are the ones that took my money.?????????

True!

You are right about quality. At this price point they need to get it right or people will not spend $20k +++. You can buy a used BMW Z4 for less and have less down time. I will probably be buying that extended service contract for sure if I plan on keeping mine. One thing for sure I am going to put some miles on this thing before my time runs out to see if anything develops. Minor issue on mine after 500 miles. Getting ready to see if I can fix it before making an out of town trip to the dealer. Brake pedal is not retracting fully which is leaving brake light on. You get a nice scary EBD FAULT BRAKE FAILURE message while driving.

My warranty runs out in April 2018. When my Cadillac was almost out of warranty, GM offered another extension. Does Can Am do the same?

You can buy the BEST warranty anytime that your Spyder is still in the original 2 year warranty. They offer up to 3 years additional coverage.

I don't know if you'll get an official offer to purchase the extended warranty: it's best to keep these things in the back of your mind, where you can remind yourself!

Do I talk to the dealer about that? I did get one additional year when I bought it for free. So 2015 to 2018.

The dealer is the best place to start!
They can tell you what you've got, when it runs out, and what your options are.

I have 4 years.....got a price on the fifth.....they wanted $1000.00! I am thinking I will take my chances if the bike continues to be problem free.
