• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Not again!?!?!?!?!?

You are right on. I think a couple people misunderstood my position. I was just defending the guy who was not getting his Spyder fixed. His dealer was not helping him.

I have had no issues, the Spyder is convincing me it is a remarkable piece of equipment. I bought it for a mainland trip only because my wife wanted it. I wasn't so sure or convinced. Now, i can only say WOW.

The success of the Spyder will be the dealers. Hondas success is in good part to the quality of the dealerships. My experience with Honda is, they will not accept poor dealership.

I appreciate your comment.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to knock Honda...but they've been around for a while. Our BRP is only 3 years old...still some growth to come. I do believe that a great dealership will go to bat for their customers...they should...

Clearly, the rear fender brackets need an upgrade. They work reasonably well for most owners, but that rear wheel takes a beating and the brackets can't deal with it in bad road conditions.

I've had no problems with mine but frankly, I expect they will fail prematurely. Since I don't see any reason a fender bracket, correctly designed, should ever fail. It isn't a wear or an expected replacement part. Baring rust or external damage, they should last the life of the bike.

But I'm not going to sue BRP over it either.

I can't imagine that BRP isn't looking at this. It may not be front burner but I'd say there will be a fender upgrade, just like there was a shock spring adjuster upgrade. Hopefully it will be available when my current brackets go away.

If not, I'll figure something else out. Ideal? No! Manageable? Yes...

Well said, Ron. I'm with you. It is not ideal, and can be irritating, but it is certainly not the end of the world. The "Sue the bast***s" mentality that prevails in these times is every bit as aggravating...to me. Sanity seems to be in short supply nowadayss. I'm glad there is a ray of hope left in Tennessee. :D

NO LAWSUIT

Sorry ppl, I did not read all the post after my last, just the first few, I will later, I know I will get a few nasties, I didn't explain properly.
I AM NOT PLANNING ON SUING, but I plan on telling my fellow French-Canucks that I am not going to bend over and pay up. This is a dangerous situation, how heavy is this thing when it flies off and goes through a windshield? I don't think NHTSA will like that possibility, that is what I want to happen, that they force a recall. Right now it would cost them much less to retrofit with a brace and rubber padding between fender and brackets, that would make me happy.
A year ago I got cut off and hit a curb with my right wheel, it bent the frame. Cost: 5,000.00 to fix, insurance fought with me for 4 months.
Bad Design, it's a new bike, it will take time I know, but the rubbernecking is priceless, couldn't wait, wouldn't trade that.
I just want a list of ppl who got the problem, not to file a lawsuit, just to show how serious it is. I'm not fond of lawyers anyway. I don't even need full name, just first and location to give an idea.

If you want to file a complaint with NHTSA, you certainly can and should. Other people's problems are just that, however, and any names you list will likely cause your report to be ignored. What is needed is for others to report their own problems to the NHTSA. Numbers count with them, but numbers of legitimate complaints, not lists of names.

Few others have had the entire assembly come off. Most caught the cracks earlier. Less anger and more insistence with your dealer, is more likely to repair your immediate problem. Changing the design is another story. That will depend on the number of problems, the cost to BRP, and the ability of their engineers to come up with a viable fix. I wish you luck in your quest. It is a known weakness, but it has not been addressed with anything other than replacement, as yet.

If my second set goes, I'll be going this route with the VTC fender. I've been keeping my eye on the bolts and have tightened them a few times. The ones I have now have about 15K miles on them, the first set lasted about 18K miles.... we'll see. Our roads suck too and I love to ride goat roads.

Well..... it's happened..... the braces are cracking pretty bad at close to 37K miles.... this is my second set. The first set failed completely at about 18K.

I am looking at either the VTC sport fender (although I really don't have the dough for that right now) or the Kawi fender. Any tips on mounting the Kawi fender on a RS which usually has a 230lb passenger from time to time?
