• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Not a good start to Spyder ownership....

Virgil naff in Lynchburg has 3rs and 7-8 rt on floor

I was at my dealer today updating the throttle body software and they had a show room full of RTs and RSs as well as I'm guessing 10-15 in crates in the lot......

That's in VA.....

Maybe you should look elsewhere?

Went through a similar situation. Even though thay had a dozen Spyder RTs at the dealer, they didn't have the one I wanted but said they could do a dealer swap and have it in a couple of days. I got same story as you on my next call a few days later. I wasn't concerned as it was a CC deposit BUT I had looked at every dealer in state on line and had spoken to several of them so I knew where one was and pointed that out..Turns out that was the one I wound up.
IMO, some Powersport dealers tend to make up their own rules and have loose interpretations of the law. Car dealers would be out of business if they tried a fraction of these questionable practices. You have online abilities through various web based review platforms, on line forums, local consumer affairs, State Attorney General, BBB, etc. I had to talk to a manager to get resolution and the above were all mentioned. Remember, it's a business dealing, no need to get mad or unprofessional--they will be more afraid of people who handle themselves professionally.

...The warranty is another story... They offered to throw in the 5 year warranty for my troubles... He said "That is $750 that we are giving you because of what we've done." I told him that I could have saved 1500-2000 by going to another dealer, so his 750 restitution really means nothing to me at this point.

That sounds like the basic extended warranty. I am not sure if BRP still offers it but I would get the one that covers all cost of scheduled service. Up in PA that is about $2,200.

A deposit? Hmm...I met a guy on here(complete stranger) from Missouri who built me a special edition RT LMT bike for spyderfest 2011 and NEVER asked me for a dime up front. Some of you might had heard of him. Len something...from Cowtown.

HIRE A LAWYER ?????

Like I just stated Hire a Lawyer My AS*, from their show room call the Attorney General's Office for that Jurisdiction in very loud voice......That will get their attention...IMHO....Mike....:gaah:...:agree:

Dave,
I am so sorry you are going through this. Be sure and let us know what happens tomorrow. I did my test ride at that dealership, but when they wouldn't deal with me, I'm glad now more than ever that I walked. We'll be rootin for ya! I would have the NC state BBB and attorney gen number ready to dial from the dealership. And by the way I purchased the BEST plus warranty and service package for $1745 for 5 years of warranty and service with no deductible and roadside assistance. This is from Can AM. Get them to "Give" you that for your trouble.

two things for sure -

1 - stop beating yourself up over the idea that you "could have" saved a lot going to dealer "x" - sure - keep going, you may even find a better deal at dealer "y" - you thought it was good when you went for it - STOP SHOPPING. Hey, I paid the $1500 for the darn BEST warranty and then found Sypderlovers and wanted to beat myself over $750. SOOOO - when I bought my second spyder, did not repeat that mistake and actually did better :)

2 - If all goes well and you drive off the lot tomorrow - with all the people looking, pointing, and waving, the smile on your face will make this all seem like a distant memory.

Safe ryding!

I'm not beating myself up because I could have saved money elsewhere... The money isn't the issue. Had the dealer told me it would take 3 weeks, I would have accepted it. They have missed delivery promises numerous times now, and that is the reason for my current displeasure. I'm also not shopping... My reason for calling the other dealer was to see if they had the one I wanted, so I could maybe "encourage" my dealer to go after it for me. When we started chatting about my experience, that was when I learned that I could have gotten a better price there. As long as my dealer can keep a promise, and deliver the product, I will stay with him regardless of price.

As for riding off the lot tomorrow... nothing would make me happier! As I said in an earlier post... only 2 positive outcomes possible tomorrow, and that is one of them. Them delivering tomorrow will make this all moot, and although I may be hesitant to give them repeat business, I see no need to drag the issue on at that point either.

Excellent - here is hoping for a great ending tomorrow!

Just a thought here, if the extended warranty is the BEST by BRP, it's okay, if it's one written by the dealer, grab your deposit and RUN.

Personally, I don't know that I'd trust a dealer who put me though all this to do the prep work correctly...

But that's just me.

BRP has district sales reps. Although they don't have "final say", they do have influence over the dealership. I'd try to find out who the district rep is and see what can be done.

Well, it appears that they are prepping my RT at this moment. I am writing this with "Cautious Optimism", but it appears that today could be the day!

Teddy & I originally had a very similar problem

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do yourself and ALL of us a BIG Favor, ask the dealer to go over the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) checklist with you, to make sure not only that They DID do eveything they were suppose to, but also, that you are familiar with and where everything is or should be. Many dealerships in the past (& sadly present) rush thru the PDI and set-up, leaving the proud new owner to get only a few miles away before all Hell lets loose and Nanny & her Limp Home Mode ruins your day. Something as simple as ensuring that the battery cables are properly tightened have left many a new Spyder Owner on the side of the road pulling their hair out. You've gone thru enough hassle already and I'd hate to see something like this happen to you next.

Good luck & Happy Ryde'n & Oh Yeah :congrats: & :welcome:

Do you have it yet? Huh? Huh? Do you have it yet? :gaah:

maybe your first weekend excursion could be to visit a neighbor to the north who can't ride until she gets her new rear tire... :)

Would this be in the service dept., or will I get a checklist upon picking her up?
