• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Not a good start to Spyder ownership....

Still waiting for my spyder... I placed a deposit on it on the 2nd of June, and seem to be getting the runaround since then. They told me that they ordered the machine for me, so they, and I can't back out, and they can't get one from another dealer. However in speaking to another dealer (Wish I had gone there first)... he told me they don't "special order" Spyders. All ordering is done once per year. If they had told me up front that it would be a while, I could accept that, but they have slipped the delivery date 4 times so far.... I'm about ready to just get some legal advice, and cancel this sale if that is possible.....

They can't hold your deposit if they can't deliver. Find a new dealer, as it seems you already have. Good luck! :doorag:

sorry to hear

hope your not dealing with the dealer i think you are if so good luck i was lucky enough to see i was about to get ripped off. i went to a different dealer about two hours away and had awesome experence. oh and they shouldnt be holding your deposit if they cant deliver product. they tryed the same thing with me then chased me down by phone months after i purchased from other dealer

I won't mention the dealer at this time, but if this isn't resolved VERY soon, I can guarantee that every person in the region, and on every spyder forum on the web will know exactly who I am displeased with. I consider myself a very patient person, but everything has limits.

As was posted, dealers don't "special order" Spyders for anyone. Go to them and demand to see the "order form" for your Spyder. They cannot produce one, so tell them that you were a victim of fraud and tell them you want your money back. If they have missed the "delivery date" four times they have failed to produce and whatever "agreement" you had with them is cancelled for "non-compliance". If that doesn't work, hire a lawyer and go see them with your lawyer. It's a small price to pay as compared to the money they don't want to refund you.

Man, I hate dealers why are they all so slimey! OK maybe not all, but the majority of them. Demand your deposit back and go to the dealer that treated you right!

I am in total agreement with the others. Get the deposit back. They cannot keep it if they have slipped the delivery date 4 times. Ask for the "proof" of the "special order" which we know they cannot produce. Don't give them time to phoney up one. Have them show you now.

Go to a dealer that has the spyder you want. I would also give them the free advertising they deserve--that sometimes gets good results fast.

Keep us posted.

Yes, I would try to cancel, if possible.

Look, I have an appointment Tuesday afternoon with East TN ATV for my 12k service. Why don't you talk with Jason there, and get his advice, and see what he has in stock. ETN ATV are great people. Yeah, I have dealers close to me, but I go there for service. If you like the way things go, and want to go visit them, we can make plans to go together on Tuesday. The number is 423-542-6109. Tell Jason that a nutjob named Anita with the Ed Hardy graphics on her yellow RS sent ya. I do believe he'll know who you are talking about.

Let's try to make sense out of this. 1. Another dealer told you dealers order only once a year, WHEN is that. 2. Armed with this answer, tell the dealer with your deposit you caught them in a lie. 3. Get your deposit back and RUN to the helpful dealer.

Good luck. Let us know how this works out.

I know that this may be dumb, and I feel like a doormat right now, but since I did begin the business transaction with them, I feel the high road is to work with them, even though I KNOW I can save money by going somewhere else.
The last work from the sales man is that in conversation with the general manager (not the sales manager who has been giving all these false dates), that my RT will be in their shop tomorrow, and will be prepped so I can pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I have told the salesman that I am seriously considering walking away, and proceeding with efforts to recoup my deposit. He asked me to give him another day. I have agreed to that, but tomorrow, I see only 2 possible outcomes:
1. I ryde off with my overpriced RT and included at no expense extended warranty. or
2. I drive my car out with my deposit in my pocket.

If neither one of those are possible tomorrow, my negotiation is officially over, and any more calls can go through a lawyer.

The warranty is another story... They offered to throw in the 5 year warranty for my troubles... He said "That is $750 that we are giving you because of what we've done." I told him that I could have saved 1500-2000 by going to another dealer, so his 750 restitution really means nothing to me at this point.

Couple things. I've heard from my dealer as well that they only get to order once (maybe twice) a year. That said, it doesn't mean they don't have other outlets in their chain they can transfer a Spyder from, nor is it unheard of for dealers in different chains to make mutually beneficial trades with each other. This could easily be considered the "special order". However missing 4 delivery dates is unacceptable, and the free warranty is a pretty common BRP promotion. I don't know if the promotion is still going, but they may not be doing you any favors by giving it to you, instead simply giving you something you should have gotten to begin with.

Dave,

I commend you for sticking with it as you did put the deposit down. I did not put a deposit down with any dealer until I had worked three dealers for over a month on pricing and had a spreadsheet of every fee they tacked on... then I made my deposit. So you can complain about the time they are taking to assemble/uncrate your Spyder, but not the price.
