• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My wife and I have lived in our house for almost 40 years, and we have never seen Auroras here in all that time. I received a notice from Spaceweather.com about a major CME in progress. I went outside just before bedtime to take a looksee. At first all I could see was a faint green glow and I went back in the house to ask my wife if she wanted to come out and see. She had her PJs on and said no, not for just a glow. I went back out, and it exploded right before my eyes!

I went back inside and told my wife that she's coming out to see, PJs or not. She came out and was glad that she did!

I took a bunch of pics, here's one.

We had them last night too; we have no idea how to take photographs, but the auroras looked the same as yours. Nice photos.

I just read a news article that said they should be visible again tonight and maybe tomorrow. Best time to see them is at about midnight. Apparently, they could be seen as far South as Northern Florida! The news article also reiterated that they could show up better in a cell phone picture vs naked eye. I'll have to watch for them here in the desert.....

I live in Wadsworth IL. Where do you live in IL?

Very Nice Picture.
I have heard about taking a few pictures with a cell phone. Not sure
about why they are more visible.

Just saying about that story. (y)

Cell phone pictures. The phone did all the work; I just pointed it and pressed the button. iPhone 15 adjusted the settings on its own for the longer than normal exposure times.

These cameras collect more light with a longer exposure time, thus the brighter pic and more vibrant colors.
