Returned this week from a trip to Hyder Alaska. Rode 1650 miles, averaged 38.5 mpg. Hyder is the southern most place in Alaska that you can drive to from BC. It is next to Stewart BC. Started the trip with a ferry ride to Vancouver Island, then drove to the northeast end of Vancouver Island to Port Hardy. Rode the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert(on the mainland of BC). It is a 16 hour ride about 300 miles. Met a couple on the ferry who were from Australia. They had shipped their BMW motorcycle to the US. They have ridden their bike in several countries. The longest distance between gas stations was 150 miles. The better fuel mileage and bigger tank give more peace of mind about worrying where the next gas station is.
