• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. North Carolina Helmet Law?

You can take them off while passing through SC if you so desire, but they definitely need to go back on before crossing the NC border.

Okay everybody... Now that we know what the laws are; What's your opinion on them? Do you agree or disagree, and do you wear a helmet even if the law doesn't require it??

(This one really ought to be interesting!)

States have helmet laws???? :roflblack:

My take = everyone under 18 should have to wear helmets (ditto on seatbelts). After you turn 18 it should be your personal choice. It should also be the choice of your insurance company to charge you more if you are one that chooses NOT to wear such safety devices.

I personally love the freedom of not wearing a helmet. Is it a stupid thing to do? YUP--- but I still do it from time to time.

Oh, my... don't go there... AGAIN! :D

...Sorry guys... you two have over 10,000 posts in here to my under a hundred... Besides; what's wrong with being just a little bit curioous about an issue like this one?

I personally disagree with the mandatory helmet laws in some states. I feel that only if you are under 18, it should be mandatory. That being said, I do wear a helmet but a few times when riding along the beach, speed limit is very slow and on the spyder I dont have the tip-over factor to worry about. On open roads full faced helmet all the time.

This was talked about before over in the off-topic section-- gets kind of heated......

Hey, Bob. I was semi-kidding about this. These type of threads (also oil and exhausts) always... always... leads to some heated discussions about who's right and who's wrong. Generally, it's a no-win situation... and sometimes leads to hurt feelings.

But... you can start any thread you like. Scotty and/or I have no more rights here than you.

Thanks for the info... I kind of figured that it might be a bit like the "loud pipe" fistfight that is starting elsewhere in here... When I was serious into ATVing these typoes of "discussions" were almost always the most interesting... While I pretty much knew that this issue had alreqdy been brought to the picnic I figured that a second helping wouldn't hurt anybody who hadn't been to the table yet...
For the record... I disagree with all helmet laws... but wouldn't be caught DEAD without one! It should be a common sense issue and not a legal one!

Helmets

Helmets are like seat belts. When you need it, you won't have time to put it on.:lecturef_smilie:
