• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Non-Existent Radio Reception

For three riding Seasons; I've been having a blast on my RT-Limited. :D
With the exception of just ONE thing:
The radio just wouldn't receive anything!
Over the years, the Technician at Klinger PowerSports has checked all of the connections, and cleaned any excess Loc-Tite from the antenna threads: all to no avail.
I finally had a chance to "fire my last round" at the problem: I replaced the antenna with one from Spyderpops.
It didn't help either... :banghead:
Other than a bad receiver; can anybody think of anything that we've missed? :dontknow:
Thanks for your help!

radio on my 2012 RT-S is junk. I just hook my IPhone into the system when I want tunes. actually the Weather station is the only decent reception.

As a test, with the bike running, swap the antenna to a piece of wire with no coating on the end. Compare.

With the bike off, do the same test.

Pull the headlight relay, test again.

Note all your results and see if anything makes it change.

if you can gain access to the brass block the antenna mounts to, do the same test, but run a small alligator clip jumper wire from the ground near the brass block ground to a known good ground.

Also, you can remove the intermediate coax cable and test it with an ohmeter.

One other test prior to replacing the reciever would be to temporary connect another antenna into the reciever coax and jumpe the base to ground.

Failing the test antenna test, it would be the receiver.

Bob, did you accidently turn your speakers off? Are you talking about AM, or FM, the weather channel, can you hear your GPS? Do you hear any sounds out of your speakers? Do you happen to have a headset in your helmet? There are really a lot more variables than you talked about when you said you raido didn't work anymore?

David

Thanks, Paul!
You've given me a direction for my efforts; I'll report the results!

Little bit of work, but not bad. Basically looking to see a change, then go from there.

Pretty much those checks will isolate and verify the antenna.

All the best with it, if you were local, I would offer to help.

I'm looking right at FM 101.5... This is a station that my old bike always pulled from this location. :dontknow:

I lost FM reception on both my 2012 RT and my 2015 RT after I installed the entertainment harness / CB.

I'm still having the problem with MUSHU also. We need someone to come up with a powered reception module to add to the antenna. I get reception now and then. The IPOD works, the speakers are very good on the F-3 Limited. Even the BRP Factory Tech is baffled. :dontknow: Tom :cus:

Reception

After the OEM broke I re-placed it with a Bosche auto type manual re-tractable I bought on E-bay ( $8.00 ). Because of where I live ( north-east ) the reception varies, but in Mo and Ark it was quite good ...........just sayin , Mike

Bob, have you actually turned the radio on? Seriously. Holding the volume switch for 3-4 seconds mutes the radio. Hold the increase button up for 3-5 seconds to unmute. Who knows? Maybe!

Sounds more like a mute problem to me, but them I'm just a Farmers son.
:joke:

Go into settings and make sure you have the correct region set! If it is not set for US you will get nothing.
