• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No way to miss - so which tire to hit it with?

Seems to appear quite often with my posts.

Cheers Peter

You're doing alright, at least you try!! It's just that all the 'text to talk' software I've tried/used really doesn't like things like a lower case 'i' instead of an upper case 'I'; odd or weird spelling (cos then it pronounces the individual letter/syllable phonetics, & not the word! ); sentences that don't end; multiple spaces in the middle of a sentence; no spaces between words or after full-stops; or even spaces after words & before punctuation... Things like the '...it seems .' that I've highlighted in your post above - that comes out as '... it seems' followed by a deathly pause, longer than the usual end of a sentence - then the word 'period'.... And if there's another sentence or line of text starting after it (ie. Cheers Peter) then there's an even longer deathly pause before it starts reading on! :banghead:

And those bloody predictive text and spell-checkers that have no idea don't help either!! For example, one that gets me every time is how they 'correct' the emoji  to the word 'trolleys' - can you guess how odd that sounds out of the blue?? While they're easy enough to 'see' & make sense of, can you imagine how confusing it becomes when just about every emoji gets messed up in some way?! :gaah:

While just one of those or something similar in a post isn't too difficult to understand when you're listening not actually reading, like your 'it seems .' above, once there's a few of them in any post things can rapidly become quite confusing, especially if ALL you can do is listen!! At least I can still come back and open the post to actually read it, but others aren't so lucky! Hence the efforts to make those posts with potentially confusing features just a little more 'machine readable', even if sometimes I do just grab the first 'edit reason' instead of spelling it out exactly... :p

But please, don't take it personally or even as a critique if what you've posted, it's more of an effort to make the Forum useable by everyone who wants to 'read' it, and not just those lucky enough to be able to do that without their viewing capabilities adding a whole 'nuther layer of complexity & confusion.

Ps: just check out the bottom of my posts too - the number of times I go back to clarify things that I've stuffed up or that might look OK but just don't come out sounding right isn't funny - but it makes it pretty clear to me that you aren't anywhere near the worst offender.... And yes, the bolding and italics etc does make a difference to how things get read, even by machines. :p

Yup normal is 3 seconds.
When its crappy and stuff extended all round.

From what I have seen on videos posted most seem thrown the 3 second rule out the window.

No wonder people are not seen when turning and stuff from time to time.
No ah yeah I can see it. The indicator is flashing...,
Came from a hidden position right up the date of the vehicle they are following.
Something for some to think about I guess.

Not always the case of course.

Less congestion down here I guess. Rural New Zealand.
I live in a city with a river with about 40,000 people.
Has 3 bridges and we have a rush 10 minutes in the morning.
Sometimes it takes me a whopping 2 or 3 minutes to get over the bridge.
Thats as bad as it gets.

Couldn't enjoy living in a city where its rush hours and stopped for quite some time waiting. It would do my head in.

Funny you mentioned as currently google claims Shreveport/Bossier population: 177,562 & our interstate I-20 is having some serious construction done lane closures & general stopping of traffic (already had bottle neck delays). & of course, there are other routes parallel. So those get blocked by Train least twice a day & literally 1 train will block ALL 3 alternate paths (guessing a 2-mile 'as the bird flies' gap between them) with long stops & even reversing; & the drivers not looking far enough ahead scramble to make U-turns & other crap maneuvers. Thankfully have not seen incidents, just close calls when discovering myself (La loner may have too) now just avoiding - finding long way.
