There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. No SITA this year

I would love to put something together in central NY, but I have no idea how to do it. Maybe I will just have a big BBQ at the house and invite all the spyders ryders I can. Let me see what kind of ideas I can come up with.

I was really looking forward to my first SITA too :cus:

Just got this email

We know that many have been waiting for details on our Spyders In The Adirondacks event for 2013. Well, we've decided to take a year off. We've been running events for five years now. We have had a lot of fun, met a lot of great people, seen some great areas of this country, but after all these years of planning events that we don't even get to ride to, we've decided to take a break this year. We're not saying we are out of the Spyder Event business...and who knows...we may plan an impromptu fall foliage ride, but for 2013 we won't be running Spyders In The Adirondacks.

Sorry to get this news as was planning to make SITA this year. Well it was a great plan, Now I'll have to come up with another one. But thank you for all the time it takes to pull something like this off. Will miss not getting to meet a bunch of you. Ben

I sure wish I could afford to just travel around to all the Spyder events around the country. Someday I will, and I'll be there for SpyderQuest 20?? if ya'll will host it.

I Totally Understand!

All I can say is THANK YOU to all of you who organized SITA up until now.
I can relate to how much work is involved and sure don't want to see you burn out (well from organizing events) - Spyder Burnouts can be fun to watch!!! :yikes:

I do hope that it comes around again sometime  and when it does - I'll be there again

I'm thinking that a rally could be held in the Old Forge area (Enchanted Forest), or Lake George area.....Maybe some place in Connecticut, Mass, Vermont, NH, Maine...A east coast/New England rally needs to be in the annual mix...

There is some great riding around New York, I personally love the Catskills area.

The Catskills is ideally located, great riding roads, lower in the state to attract southern riders and not too far from the Canadian border.

Spyders by the Hudson.

There are lots of events around the North East but they all happen around June/July very little later in the summer except for Killington classic.

The Catskill Mountains are a large area in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of New York. They are located approximately 100 miles north-northwest of New York City and forty miles southwest of Albany, starting just west of theHudson River. The Catskills occupy much or all of five counties (Delaware, Greene, Schoharie, Sullivan, and Ulster). As a cultural and geographic region, the Catskills are generally defined as those areas close to or within the borders of theCatskill Park, a vast forest preserve protected from many forms of development under New York state law.
Geologically, the Catskills are a mature dissected plateau, a once-flat region subsequently uplifted and eroded into sharp relief by watercourses. The Catskills form the northeastern end of, and highest-elevation portion of, the Allegheny Plateau (also known as the Appalachian Plateau).[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] Although the Catskills are sometimes compared with the Adirondack Mountains further north, the two mountain ranges are not geologically related, as the Adirondacks are a continuation of the Canadian Shield. Similarly, the Shawangunk Ridge, which forms the southeastern edge of the Catskills, is part of the geologically distinct Ridge-and-Valley province, and is a continuation of the same ridge known as Kittatinny Mountainin New Jersey and Blue Mountain in Pennsylvania.
Climatically, the Catskills lie within the Allegheny Highlands forests ecoregion.

Bob is right in the middle of that map and I am just to his east. I guess I would have to help if it is here. I do think the adirondacks are better suited though.

SOTL

You could locate it in/near Watkins Glen and call it Spyders On The Lakes! That would put you near the wineries, the lakes, Corning Glass Museum, Watkins Glen, the towns at the heads of the lakes and all of the great rides in the area. There is also easy access via the Interstates.

Just saying....

There is a Spyder meetup happening in Maine this year at Mooselodge. Maybe we could eat more information from the person throwing it and help out. Maine is a beautiful place to ride.

If someone decides to run with getting a rally together in the Nh/VT/MA area I'd be happy to help with planning, getting vendors involved, etc...

Ron,
This is starting to sound like a job for the NY Spyder Ryders! :2thumbs:
The Adirondacks do have some MUCH nicer scenery than we have down here...
We'll have to huddle up over this and see what some brainstorming can produce!

It would be hard to find a more perfect place than Lake George for a Spyder event. Everything you would ever need is right there along with countless other things to do away from the Spyder.

If Lake George can support 50k bikes for Americade it certainly could support a small Spyder event and it's located in the beautiful ADKS..

We are so spread out throughout NY it will be no easy task to get help from others no matter where it takes place. No matter what we do I just want to be around my Spyder friends, so I'm open to anything and anywhere in the northeast.

Randy,
When's the peak-color time up there in the Fall?
That might be a good starting point...

Once we've got an idea for the dates; I guess that contacting the Tourism folks should be next? :dontknow:

what really bothers me about this, is that they waited until now to let us all know! why in :cus: couldn't they have let us know four months ago so we would have had more time to get things off the ground. foliage season is nice, but you then have to contend with more wet weather and the likes with a pre-mature snow storm etc.. we're up for anything, and we're sure happy to help out from this end! let's have a meeting during americade over a few bottles of wine and a couple of beers!

It's not quite that late in the year ... Probably right around the end of September, or the beginning of October would be my guess...
Their summer tourist trade would be gone, so we'd have the Town to ourselves! :2thumbs::ohyea:
The biggest question might have to be: How much of Lake George is still available for fun and games at that time of the year? :dontknow:
