• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No horn...

First, thank you ataDude and FISH for the horn info. Imma gonna look into that. I definitely want the horn to fit into the same spot.

Some of us ride a little faster, some ride a little slower. Let's not be too judgmental of our fellow SpyderLovers. :)

:agree: Am sure all of us push our :f_spider: way past the speed limit at one time or another. As long as you don't go faster than your angel can fly, its all cool.

If you're doing 90 on the left lane, what does that make you? You are breaking the law, endangering your life and others, and setting a bad example for other Spyder riders. Nuff said.

Hey Dudley, I understand your safety factor, but having met Patches in person, I can tell you he is a good guy. Besides, I have to admit, I've been in that left lane doing 90 before myself. Don't be too hard on those of us that hit the throttle sometimes, we are all here for the same reason. We love our spyder and this forum.

90 mph in the left lane needs no judgement.

At least it is the passing lane!

Seriously, a lot depends on traffic conditions. Remember that up until a few years ago, there were no speed limits on Montana highways. Drivers were advised to travel at "reasonable and prudent" speeds. I don't think this resulted in either road carnage or the Apocalypse.

I know I will never change anyone's mind about how fast to drive. That's not what I was trying to do. Drive anyway you want to. If I hurt anyone's feelings, I apologize. Patches' post just hit home with some bad memories of friends that have been killed because of speed, and families disrupted. Friends who were good people that didn't think anything could happen to them on their bikes or in their cars.

Sorry if we kind of jumped on you Dudley. I guess I am just a bit of a fatalist. I realize we can all tempt fate but I also believe when I am going to go home to meet the Lord, it won't have anything to do with how fast I'm going, it will just be my time. Like you, my reasons for this are from experience. When I was 18 I was in a severe car accident, not fault of ours, we were doing the speed limit, the other driver was drunk. 3 people killed, I'm still here, go figure. Two years ago, our daughter was in a freak car accident, about 50 mph in a 45 zone, no other cars involved, hit a patch of black ice, rolled car was ejected. She is home with the Lord, and her boyfriend walked away without any physical injury. She chose not to wear a seatbelt that day, don't know why, boyfriend had one. Anyway, this is not supposed to be a sob story, just pointing out that in my very personal humble opinion, speed is not always the determining factor to worry about. So I don't worry, I enjoy, but I'm not stupid either.

Dud,

I'm with ya...we all do what we will, but high speed travel in any vehicle (esp. an open one) is dangerous. Responsible riding is the key...90 mph on a stretch of open desert road is one thing...if I were to try 90 in the left lane here in Baltimore/D.C., I'd be roadkill pretty fast...

As is the case with EVERYTHING, speed kills...

No problem bro. I've been affected by family dying in vehicle accidents also so I understand where you're coming from. Like dltang said, we've met patches in person and we believe that he is a good, responsible rider who might "open it up a bit" if the conditions are right. I've been known to do that too. I apologize if I caused you any grief with my initial response.

Thanks, guys. All is well. Just came back from a great ride with the wife and a couple of women riders. The weather here was awesome. Perfect skies and just the right temperature. Was probably 175 miles. Hit the 7000 mile mark today.

Thanks!

well now that it will be raining for the next week it seems i will have plenty of time to dig into the problem.......thanks for all the help!
