• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. NO Brakes

Good morning everybody, sorry I have not been around, work season is over and riding season has begun.
Since I have owned my Spyder the brakes have always seamed mushy.
They have been getting worse.
The other day I went out to ride and I had no brakes.
The pedal went all the way down. couldn't even pump them up.
I determined that the master cylinder was bad.
I replaced the master cylinder.
It's better, I can now pump them up.
but the brakes are almost non-existent.
I have tried to do the bleeding with a vacuum but that does not work.
because I get a lot of bubbles that I thought were from the tubing.
however I read another thread that it's because it's coming from the threads of the fitting.
I will put teflon tape on it and see if it's better.
I was not able to bleed the master cylinder prior to installing.
I'm lost as far as what to do

With abs you need to be able to activate the abs pump you need the dealer for this one hook up to the buds

I had the same problems with mine and bled mine several times and never could get a solid pedal.I took to the dealer and paid $450 to have them bleed while hooked to Buds with no better results ,still a little mushy and the pedal would go about half way down. They said that they all did that.
I replaced the master cylinder myself and bled a couple of times and now have a solid pedal, as good as new. There 4 places that need to be bled, lf,rf,r,abs module The shop manual does say to bleed manually and then bleed while hooked to Buds. I think that all the Buds does is to adjust the pressure on the ABS pump and does not have anything to do with Bleeding IMO. You should not have to pump to have good brakes.

Bleeding....

Can be a lengthly process on these machines. The buds system is most helpful clearing the abs and the nanny controled systems. It does take longer witthout buds but doable...you may have to give buds a try if it doesen't come up to a solid pedal...:banghead:

Thanks, I have a problem paying $400-$500, or even $100 for something I can do myself.
I will work on it a little bit more and see if I can get it done
Looking at the manual, the buds is to make sure it's working correctly and to clear the codes

I just bled them again and it's still not any better.

I would ride it a little pumping the brakes. Bleed again with a helper using a clear hose in a clear container.
Starting at left front Pump until clear keeping the master cylinder reservoir topped off. while pumping close the bleeder.
Do same for Right Front , then the rear and last the VCM bleeder.
If it's still mushy do it all again. Some times it takes a lot of patience to get it right.
This is a page from a 13 RT Manual, should be same.
You should be able to get a solid pedal if master cylinder is good and you have no leaks with out pumping.
Good Luck

So I took it to a shop that has access to a buds computer. he charges $65 an hour and said it shouldn't take more than an hour.
We'll see what happens
