nmn risers update

stayed up till after midnight in cold garage installing nmn black risers ... installation went well all though lighting in garage was bad small heater wasnt cutting it .... all in all went well ... a little problem reinstalling reverse cable (first time i ever had it off) i also noticed that the left controles are now tilted up a bit going to take a little time to get use to the directional switch being down a little .... but i'm sure that will come with time .... my girlfriend sat on it this morning her seating position looked a lot more comfortable ....she is going to take it tomorrow while im at work to see how she likes it .... i only had a 5 mile ride to work this morning so can't really say for sure if it handles any better i wasnt crazy about the look at first but after putting them on and seeing them in person they do look pretty cool .... i must admit i did like the original riding position with the factory 1" riser ... but i was willing to take a chance .... people may find it strange but i kind of like leaning forward in that cafe style .... i think for the money and time it is well worth it ...if anyone is having problems as far as back or wrists then these are for you my girl always complained how sore her wrist were because she had to lean forward with all her weight on her wrists ..i did notice on the way to work this morning that when turning you dont have to lean forward so i would say that it does improve handling ...i will keep them on my spyder al least till my better half gets hers and post more when i have had more time to test drive .... thanks again evan for making a great product and for all your help ....

Just got my 4" NM risers and even downloaded Lamonster's instruction to use as well as the ones in the box. Right side came off (Throttle) with a struggle and lots of Windex, but left side (Shift Lever) did not. I finally gave up and used a box cutter to slice it down the middle. Someone at the factory must have been in a joking mood because there was a big glob of glue and the bottom half of the grip is still stuck on. My question now is since I will have to change the grips now, where is the best place to get them? I would like something a little fancier. Look at NMM site, but didn't see anything about grips.

Check out Dennis Kirk or JP Cycles online. You'll find plenty of a selection, just make sure you buy grips for 7/8 bars.

dltang got her replacement grips at the local bike shop at a very good price. I think she got some type of gel slip on grip at around $10 or so.

Thanks, but now I have another problem. The side with the clutch lever grips wouldn't come off so I had to cut them as mentioned. Where I goofed was in taking the clutch lever and the refverse gear completely apart since they wouldn't slip off. (BAD MISTAKE!!!) I am having a He** of a time in putting them back together. I am just about ready to call a tow truck and have it taken to the dealer. Embarrasing, but I am at my wits end. At least, I think I have the throttle side OK, but have one question.
Does the original plastic sleeve go (approx 1" long) next to the risers and which way does it face. There is an inside lip on one end. Also does anyone have a suggestion how to put the reverse lever back together?:dontknow:​

The sleeve can be reused if you cut the lip off. Otherwise it is not used.

As far as the reverse cable goes, the first time never having done it before can be a pain. But just keep at it. However make sure you are runnuing the cable throught the hole in the left riser block. The cable must go through the riser block hole to get it to install.
