• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I have a 2010 RTS, recently puchased hitch and electronic module, has anyone found female adapter and harness to apply to four pronge plug, I built my trailer with four prong plug, thanks

There are many threads on this subject, & I believe the consensus is, NO SUCH BEAST EXISTS, at least until you make it yourself.

I'm in the same boat & am in the process of following Scotty's (NancysToy) suggestions and adding an additional set of brake lights to make every thing play well together. I know he's gotta be get'n tired of telling all of us, but the man knows what he's Talk'n about! :2thumbs:

Part number for the RT plug for the trailer

Digikey Part number is 889-1060-ND Amphenol part number is AHD16-9-96S This for the plug, now for the required pins you will need Digikey part number is 889-1051-1-ND and the Amphenol part number is AT62-14-0122. This will mate up with the plug on the RT from a factoy/Dealer installed Can Am Trailer Hitch.

Don't forget the special crimper needed for the pins, and the plugs for the unused holes. Another alternative is to puchase the BRP Trailer Tongue Harness P/N 710002029, and wire it in. I don't know of anyone who has successfully added a converter to enable use of a 4-pole trailer. Easiest way out is to add a set of turn signals (or brake lights) to the trailer, and wire it for 5-wire use. Note that BRP uses two separate brake light wires, too. You can tap either for the brake lights, but you cannot use the turn signal wires to provide the brake function, as on a typical 4-wire trailer. Here is a pinout diagram for the RT trailer wiring.

I'll let you know this week. I'm hooking my Bushtec trailer to my RT-S Tuesday. Getting ready for the Adirondac's. Waiting for the harness on the spyder. Then the connection to the trailer will be next. I've talked to other people that have done it and they said it's not hard to do.:yikes:

The module shorted out somehow on my RT while on my way to Maggie Valley, by the way your reverse is on the same fuse. Now the factory says they are backordered and won't be available till September. Three more trips left and have to jerry-rig trailer lights. We're a country of backorders. :dontknow:

Trailer plug....Almost Got It!!!!

Hi Guys,
I ordered all the individual parts from Digi-key and got everything hooked up and working great but I still need the part the screws on the back of the plug to protect the wires, I think it's called a boot/strain relief. Does anyone have a part number that would work on this plug????

Thanx
Steve

For 2011 Spyder RT S If you order Part #710002442 this is the Pole Harness all you will need to do is clip the 4 wire cube connector off and replace it with a flat 4 to connect to your trailer. My Trailer works perfectly and I did not have to add any additional lights to it. Remember this is for the 2011 RT, the 2010 RT is a different number.

I haven't found one anywhere. That's why I used the BRP harness. You could make do with some RTV silicone and some 50% heatshrink sleeve, but it won't look as nice. You could also make do with some self-vulcznizing rubber tape, but that is also kinda crude.

try this

two ty wraps and a piece of bicycle innertube seals up nice and watertite, charles bronson, did not look good but he got the job done.

Connector source

I did some searching this morning. Digikey is a great site and I have used it many times, but I found a REALLY great site and source for all things RT622 power connector. As SMARTIN said, Ladd is a great place. That tells us its an HD10 series connector.

Here is a great source for all things HD10- www.Wirecare.com Search for HD-10

-OR-

http://www.wirecare.com/deutsch-connectors.asp?selectedDelimiter=9&Series=HD10
This page is easy to select the connector, pins, boot, and even the crimper if you don't have one!!

My hope & plan is to make a different harness to add several additional wires so I can add, to the RT622 trailer----
1. Backup Lights
2. Switchable interior lights (from the bike)
3. Drive the LED enhancements from my existing Black Magic remote.

Plan "B" is to add a second LED remote controller to the trailer, power it from the +12vdc, and control all that from the bike via RF remote.

Thanks for the leads gang!!

In a nutshell

What you are needing from Wirecare.com is...
1 Deutsch HD10 Series 9 cavity plug,
6 Size 16, Solid Socket, 14-16 AWG, Nickel Plated
3 Sealing Plugs for Contact Size 16
1 Connector Boot

or

Here is a list of the parts I ordered from Digikey... (somewhat less expensive for same product)
6 889-1051-1-ND CONN SOCKET 14-16AWG SZ16 NICKEL
1 889-1060-ND CONN PLUG 9POS W/COUPLING
3 889-1058-ND SEAL BLANK 16AWG
Digikey did not have the connector boot (that I could find).

At either place, you will note a very expensive crimping tool. I did not buy one, I carefully used my $7.00 crimping/stripping tool from the hardware store.

Here is a picture of the pin-out for the HD10 9-pin (found here on SL)

FYI to all - this pin-out diagram is not accurate for all :spyder2:s. It definitely wasn't for my 2011 RT-S. On my :spyder2: The left and right turn signal and brake lights ran off of the same lines (orange=left flasher/left brake, red=right flasher/right brake). The blue and green wires tested with no power. :dontknow:
That is correct. The trailer module has apparently been modified to provide only 4-wire output (Running, RT Turn/Brake, LF Turn/Brake, & Ground). Many thanks to Anita for working through this and figuring it out.
