Nice ride with my son yesterday

Great story! I get to ride with my son sometimes-and it's a great bonding experience. My son's a little older than yours (28 YO), and a police officier, so I know he's putting his life on the line every day. He doesn't tell me much--so I know he's seen some pretty wierd stuff. Anyways, makes me proud to be a dad!

We seem to have a lot of Patriots here and I appreciate that. I will let my boys know that you all said thanks.

I don't want to turn this into a political post and I know we all have strong feelings about our role in world affairs.

I've raised my boys to love God and Country and the day we were attacked on our own shores is the day I sat my boys down and told them things will never be the same after this day. That was the day I took this picture and the day my oldest son Lance decided he want to join the Marines to protect our country from ever being attacked like that again. That day was 9-11 Lance was 15 at the time and both his brothers followed suit.

This is a picture of all three of the boys last Christmas. There are some things in their life that I'm not happy about but they are still my boys and I love them to death and I am very proud that they all made a decision to join and fight in a time of war. They actually get a special metal for that. Keep them and all our soldiers in your prayers.

These are memories that will last a lifetime!

And I've got to say, "That's some driveway you have there Lamont!"

Let me also add another hearty Thank - You to all who serve!!!

My husband and I very much appreciate the young men and women who serve, so please thank your sons. Our son wanted to join the U.S. Army Rangers when he was 17 and he accomplished that during 9/11. He served one tour in Afghanistan and two in Iraq being on the initial push through Baghdad with 3rd I.D. (David Bloom of NBC was traveling with his unit when David met his untimely death.) Brian came out with a purple heart having his jaw broken by an Iraqi while on patrol. We are very proud of all of their efforts.

His dad and I knew we had to keep strong for his benefit and that is what got us through. Provided me the strength to learn to ride all sorts of motorcycles, something I had never imagined ever doing. Sometimes our kids teach us things too!

Lamonster and the Monstrocities...congrats, looks like you have quite a wrecking crew there!:2thumbs:

My favorite post so far!

The best part is what Alex says at the end of the video:

"How 'bout next weekend?"

Hooray for Lamonster, Mrs. Monster (nice to see her!), and the three Monstrosities (love that!).

We truly do appreciate all those who serve our country, and good parents who love and spend time with their kids (despite the boneheaded things they do sometimes).

:2thumbs:

Good thread, good post, great family. Thank you, Lamont, and thank your sons for their service for all of us. God bless.

Man, I remember those haircuts. Doesn't take long in the corp for that first haircut. Semper Fi from an old Marine to the young and a proud Dad.

Thanks for sharing your story & video.

I served in the Navy during the latter part of The Vietnam War and now belong to the American Legion and am an American Legion Rider as well as belong to the Patriot Guard. I too have a son, but he severely shattered his right lower leg in an accident about a year before 9/11 and consequently couldn't serve when his friends were enlisting. That doesn't diminish my pride in him a bit. He currently has a co-worker who has an 8 year old boy with lymphoma and my son has spearheaded fund raisers to help raise money for that family. Sometimes service is right here at home. I salute you and yours for their military service, Thank-you very much.

Father Son time, awesome (child time)

Great to see and hear about all the great stories about child and parent time. I'm looking forward to my son's return from Iraq. He ordered a 2010 Fat Bob, I can't wait to ride with him, Harley and :spyder2:, how cool, old school and new school, ought to be fun. Every biker no matter what you ride, it's just a blast. We're all just enjoying the ride. To all, be safe!!!!!

Great post Lamonster! It kind of brings out my emotions!
I have a 14 year old son that has an interest in going into the millitary when he graduates from high school. Even though the thought of that has me worried, I will respect and be proud of him no matter what he decides.
Speaking as a dad myself, I cherish every moment that I can bond with my kids, because you never know what life has in store for us in the future. This past winter me and my son enjoyed a similar time together on a very enjoyable scenic snowmobile ride in Vermont's North East Kingdom. It was a great father and son bonding and a nice memory to have. God bless America and our freedom.
