• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Next best thing to riding for me

It got into the 60's today and I've had a few things I wanted to install but it's been too darn cold in the shop but today was the day to tackle a couple of my projects. :doorag:

Most of you that know me know I'm not happy unless I'm riding or taking something apart.

Last Saturday I got a ride in and this Saturday I got some wrenching in. :2thumbs:
I got a prototype product from ESI installed. I don't know what he calls it or if he's even going to bring it to market but he didn't have a RT to test it on so he sent me the parts to give it a try.

What these do is turn your turn signal lights into running lights.

They were pretty easy to install. The hardest part was fishing the wire for power but once I found a good location to pick up power that wasn't so bad either.

The next project was installing the grills I got from Dave at Custom Dynamics. I've had these for a little while too and just now got around to installing them.

Because my RT is preproduction I had to work it a little more than most. One trick I did that helped with the install was to zip the bottom grill to hold it in place.

I have more stuff to do but it's was a fun day for me. :2thumbs:

How come you still have a pre-production RTS? I would have thought that by now you would have the real thing?

Or is part of being RT-5, the requirement of being a perpetual beta-tester?

Ride or tinker, ride or tinker? This time of year, either way you go, it's a good day. :doorag:

I bought a used Corbin for my RS from a forum member and purchased the backrests from Corbin directly. Had a question on the brackets for the backrests and sent an email to Corbin for clarification. I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call from corbin the next day..talk about terrific customer service. The installation was a piece of cake and I love the fact that you can add/remove both the passenger/driver backrests with very little effort. These are great long distance seats in my opinion.

Forward Mounted Foot Peg

I couldn't help but notice a new forward mounting position for riding pegs in you first picture. Last time I saw your RT in SITS you still had the Scuff Guards mounted but was talking about doing something different. Did you fabricate these and how are they mounted?

I made a bracket that bolts in the same place the wing bolts too. You can't stand on it but it works great for me. :doorag:

I have PE# 0004. Does that make my spyder "preproduction" as well? I'm not sure what that means. Any thoughts?

Pre-production means the machines that were produced prior to them being made directly available to the public...such as the initial dealer demo machines and some long-term factory test machines. These are usually very close to the final product, unlike early test and publicity machines. The PEs are all production machines. #0004 was the fourth PE RTS produced for the buying public. There will be other #00004s in other colors and models. There is more to the numbering system than just the final digits...which can be repeated.

No, you have a production unit. I think they made 30 something RT's for marketing before they went into production. There are no doubt more than one 0001 RT, mine is just 0001 preproduction.

Lamont, ya gotta stop showing and explaining RT stuff...I can not afford it...ha ha. I, as many, have had a number of scoots since I started riding in 1948 on a powerhouse scooter with a 3hp washing machine engine...

Question: Would I have to go to Corbin (very difficult for me) or do they have RT seats, pans etc they can build and ship to me? Just wondering how it works when you can't got to their plant(s). I also email them the same question, it may take a while for an answer from them....

My experience with a 1995 GW 1500 and my present '02 1800 tells me OEM seats are seldom comfortable to many riders.

Thanks for the great photos and comments on your seat, Lamont.

 like the riding pegs, been using the wing on mine to strech the legs out some time. cramp, didn't want to stop to do it.

Most folks place their order over the phone. That shouldn't be a problem George. I would call instead of emailing them.

Call Corbin to order. Look at their website first to get an idea of color, covering, beading and any backrest. What they also have that is not mentioned on the website but mentioned here: is regular cut or Lamonster Cut. The later is more like a tractor seat... you sit IN it not ON it.

I got the Lamonster Cut. Heated.:ohyea:
