Hi,
I found a documentary about the research of the evolution of the Spyder hybrid. BRP associate with Sherbrooke University give 11 million for 4 years to work on the hybrid version. 30 persons from BRP and University work together. They have to take care of the hot so they fix the battery under the the gas tank.
The documentary was produce in 2013. But it's show how is the challenge to put electric motor, gas motor, battery, ondulator, charger, electric converter, battery 66kg. And they have to put multiple radiator/pump to keep battery at 60 degre and the motor at 90 degre The bike as the autonomy of 15 kilometer in electric for a total of 500 kilomter in hybrid. 50% less comsumption 50% less pollution.
They could not modify frame or any structure and need to have the same power and torque of the original spyder. They have first work on the aerodynamic of the bike for best efficiency. They have already build 4 prototype that is working.
Turn on your volume, you could hear the sound of the bike in electric is pretty quiet.
Sometime were angry at BRP, but look all the research and testing...sometime engineer could miss a thing but on the other side is human.
The documentary start 8:00 minute from the start. And the worse it's in french. Hope some could understand...you could watch picture it's 1000 word.
The project is for 4 years....start 2013 and end up in 2017... Do you think we will see something in 2017 or 2018 ?
I make my best to translate a little bit english not my first language...so if someone want to translate the video or make a resume it's hope to you
