• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dealer just called me and said a new update for the power steering just came out a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone had this done yet? My system is working fine and I have read a couple horror stories on here of some of these updates doing more damage than good!:doorag:

Had mine done. It also resets the fuel system back like it was before the first update. Mine has been running perfect since having it done. Plus it includes rerouting the vent line away from the engine/exhaust

The original DPS update was in response to a safety recall by the NHTSA. That is probably why your dealer contacted you. He has an obligation to try to get every owner to have the recall completed. Some folks did have performance problems after that update, because it contained additional tweaks unrelated to the steering issue. There was a secondary ECM update to address those problems a few weeks later.

At some point, you will have your Spyder serviced by the dealer and they will be compelled to perform the steering update. They have no choice, and neither do we. Like you, I am waiting for all this to sort out and reach an even keel. I'm not convinced we have seen all the wrinkles yet. Our Spyder runs fine and steers fine, so I am not in a rush to do the recall. I cannot with good conscience recommend that others do the same. This is a safety recall! We should all pay attention to it.

I had my second update done yesterday, in Worthington, MN. I am not sure this one has anything to do with the DPS, but I think this update has more to do with the way the engine performs. Like Scotty said, "Some folks did have performance problems after that update, because it contained additional tweaks unrelated to the steering issue" . I drove home after the update, with my purge valve still "bypassed". So today I will put the purge canister back to the original configeration, and install the new vent line.
I will check on how well it performs, but where I noticed my previous problems, was at a higher operating temp and 3000 to 4000 RPMs. Now I don't have the higher temp around here. (Northern Iowa)
Driving home I had three bars, but mostly two.

Your dealer did our update when we met you on our journey and I was impressed with their service. If you rode with 2 bars it was a bit chilly!

I'm confused about the update. Took my Spyder to the dealer cause I had the parking brake failure. I had the recall about a month ago. I asked them if I need the update and he said I had to give him my VIN# and he would see. Said he would call me back (never did) so when I took it in I asked him if I need the update and he said my VIN# did NOT fall into the category for the update. According to what I've read here everybody should get the update. Is this guy BS-ing me or what. My spyder does not run as good as it did before the recall. It craps out and pops real bad on deceleration (sp). What do you think?:dontknow:

Tell them simply that it runs poorly and you want it fixed! How they do that is up to them if they don't want to do the ECM update (which is not the recall).

Going in tomorrow to get it taken care of, standby for updates........You and I think alike Nancy Toy, if it aint broke dont fix it!:ohyea:

Tell your dealer :crackpipe: and to get out of the cave if your dealer does not now about the updates he is way behind in the curve :ani29:

Ok final software update complete, ground wire recall and vent tube recall done. So far no issues, have not done an extended ride though but will do so tomorrow. Update to follow

Ok 170 miles later an no issues so far. I was toldd this update actually dealt with the ECM rather than the DPS. I have noticed what seems like a mild miss every now and then. I am not sure if this is related to the upate or maybe some bad gas or a minor fouled plug.................:2excited:
