• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does the steering issues still exist with the models built after May of 09? I beleive this is the "end date" for the recall notice. This will greatly effect my buying decision.

Thanx

I'm not sure anyone here has that information. The majority of steering issues have been on 2008 models, but some 2009s have also affected, not sure when the 2009s that had issues were built. My 2009 has been flawless for the first 6000 miles.

The issue that prompted the steering recall was a software based problem. The software was changed after the recall, so those Spyders built afterwards should have come from the factory with the updated software. Be aware that there are additional issues that the software fix did not address, and may have aggravated. I am not aware with any 2010 Spyders with these steering issues, and fewer 2009 Spyders than 2008 Spyders have been reported with them. The cause or causes of these further issues are still being studied by BRP, with failed Spyders repaired on an individual basis...for now.

Problems

I have 2 idiot lights that keep appearing on the digital dash. One says, "Brake Failure", and the other, "Check Engine". I've had both looked at by Kurt from BRP, who assures me the brakes are fine and the engine is too. His suspicion is they are switch/relay problems. He told me it's no problem but to have the error displays checked and corrected when I could. There was a tension pressure problem with the Kevlar belt but Kurt repaired that himself at the Daytona Bike Week BRP Owners Speedway ride. The other things I was concerned about, other owners said they experience also and haven't been a problem for them. The idiot lights are annoying but as long as they're not a problem, I can live with them until I get to the dealership, which will be soon!
