• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm a new proud owner of a used 2008 GS black & yellow. I have driven/rode it quite a bit since I got it and I love it! Certainly a life changer and try to find every excuse to go out and ride.

I have a newbie question. I tried cleaning my windshield, and the newbie in me used a paper towel, and I'm afraid I scratched the windshield a bit with a whole bunch of light scratches. I'm not sure if some of the scratches were already there since it came with bugs, heheh from the delivery. But man these windshields seem to scratch easily. Unknowingly, before reading the warning label on the windshield, I also used Windex to clean it at first.

How many of you guys have these light scratches on your spyder windshields? Is it an annoyance to you or do you just live with it?

It is great to be part of this community and the attention the spyder gets is awesome.

All WS well mark very easy. NEVER use paper to clean them. if real dirty lay a wet towel over it for a bit to loosen up the crud then use Plexus to clean the WS it will remove some marking if not get Novus plastic polish the fine stuff and rub it out
I will bet Plexus will do the job. Wall-mart has it or auto stores a black and blue spray can
Welcome to the Sypder world

Thanks! I feel so dumb for cleaning it with a paper towel. I feel like switching the windshield with the smaller one I have. Or am I overreacting? Heh.

You won't notice them, so don't sweat it. If a windshield doesn't have scratches on it, it hasn't been on the road much. Just enjoy your ride.

:welcome: and :congrats: on your :spyder:
Any questions can (and will) get answered on this forum.
Enjoy the rydes of your life!

:welcome: Don't worry about it, The damage is already done,
Besides i don't know anyone with a Spyder or a bike that doesn't end up buying at least 3 shields anyway.;)

Hi Illuzion,

Congrats on your new Spyder. My first Spyder was a yellow and Black RS SE5. Loved it!!! Today it's a RT SE5... comfort not speed. I was told a long time to use Pledge to clean my windshield, visor and glasses. I was told that Pledge and a soft cloth would help fill in those micro swirls. After 10 yrs., I still believe it and use it daily. Have fun on your awesome new toy.

Ride in comfort,

John

:congrats::welcome: I, too, have made some errors on my windshield. When we went to SpyderFest this year, my hubby put a tarp over the bike and didn't remove the WS. It was very windy and raining as we drove down. When he took off the tarp, the whole windshield has these markings all across on both sides. Yikes!!!! (The funny part is someone wanted to know how we got that design--it reminded him of spiders somehow)

Since we got home, we've removed the shield and are looking for good cleaner and some kind of jewelry cleaner, too to rub out the markings..

Life is good. I rode the entire time at SpyderFest with that windshield and I saw through just fine.

Your windshield should be fine. It's a good thing you didn't keep trying to clean with those paper towels (after you initially cleaned it).

Welcome to this forum. It's an awesome site.

:welcome::congrats:

Mothers power plastic polish, sold at auto stores, polish shield by hand this stuff should clear it up.
