• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

We have been in a tizzy trying to figger out WTH to take with us on our trip to Maggie Valley. No doubt, we have enough space, but what exactly do we take? What's the best brand of..cooking utensils? How do you keep flies away from where you are eating/socializing?<--the answer to that dumbfounded me!--< What tent best suits you or what towbehind camper tracks the best behind a trike? This site, run by the same amazing dude that runs the ST1100/1300 website I still frequent(http://www.st-owners.com/), has a treasure trove of info that pertains to the motorcycle camper. There is lots of camping tips on the ST site, too.

So, I thought, since there are a few of us Spyder camping folks here on SL, I would graciously share the link to Joe's website.

Their motto: "RIDE,CAMP,REPEAT!"

Here yall go!!:

MOTOCAMPERS!!

You are lucky. my wife's idea of camping is 24 hour room service, European pillow top beds, and only the valet parking can shut down at midnight

I actually have looked at camping trailers... Just in case I'm lucky enough for her to leave me to my own devices for a week... What sort of camper would you suggest for SpyderTowing?
A small, one-person unit is kind of what I've been looking for... Maybe a Stove and 'Fridge for the the bellybutton starts feeling too close to the backbone... :D

In order to have a trailer light enough for the Spyder (the RT is rated to tow 400 pounds), you are probably going to have to foregoe some of the luxuries. A cooler and a backpacking stove, along with a popup tent trailer are typical. They don't call it "roughin' it" for nothing! :D

I pulled the BRP trailer with the RS SE5 ( not supposed to tho) Pulled just great back there. In it had a 1 1/2 person tent, 4inx 3ftX5.5ft. foam to sleep on and ATE OUT!!! Worked for me.Had other stuff in that trailer too like sleep bag. Ya'll know the "stuff you put in a trailer that you think you can't live without"!!! have NO clue how much trailer wt was but did wt the whole kit-n-kabootle and it weighed in at 1500 lbs. Me, tank 3/4 full, and trailer. Have no idea how much all will weigh with the RT. When I get to Maggie Valley I will have a heater( incase of cold) and a fan for hot days. AND since I don't trust mother nature at 4000 to 5000 ft will take couple warm type clothes and shorts. Should cover most of the bases. Camping at a Good Sam park in Cherokee it's on US19 and not far from Maggie Valley. Should have lotsa fun buzzing around those roads. Hope to see ya'll there.:chat:

How about a bear whistle and bear spray?
You might want to pack along a large caliber "Hand-Cannon"*** also!
have you ever grilled bearsteaks??? :2thumbs:

*** Something starting down around the .44 magnum and ending up near either the 500 magnum or the mighty .375 JDJ!! :yikes:

I always pack. Currently carry a Bersa Thunder .40 s&w ultra compact. A nice little Taurus P22 drop on the ankle. Wife packs a Ruger Police .357. Probably won't be bothered by bears too much if folks would not leave food, food scraps etc. out. Oh, and my wifes version of camping is about the same, hotel room, hot showers. Me, a campfire and a bed roll works good.

Taurus PT22... Did you ever break the firing pin in it? (Hint: Don't ever even think of dry-firing these little suckers!)
I always wanted a .40, but somehow I ended up with 3 .45s and then got into the larger, meaner calibers... WOO-HOO! :2thumbs:
Ruger Super Redhawk in .44mag
T/C Contender in .375 JDJ
Dan Wesson in .445
S&W 500 mag.

I'm still looking for a Casull...

Haven't yet and I've put many rounds through the little sucker. I never dry fire any weapon. Got my hands slapped a LONG time ago when my grandfather caught me with his service pistol. Three things I learned,:lecturef_smilie:never pick up someone else's weapon w/o asking, :lecturef_smilie:never dry fire a weapon and NEVER ever go in my grandfathers bedroom :lecturef_smilie: Yes, he unloaded his gun before he even came in the house.

Those ARE good rules!
I normally keep some "snap caps" around for when I get the urge to practice indoors... I forgot to stuff one in the "Little-T" and it busted almost too quick.

Last time I camped in the Smoky Mts, I got up in the middle of the night for a walkabout to the bathhouse and was followed by a mama "cat and Kittens" but when I opened the bathhouse door I saw it was a family of skunks:yikes:
