• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Newbie Spyder Owners

Congrats on your new Spyder Buttercup. My advice, ride in your comfort zone until you are a pro at that, then move up to bigger challenges. Don't bite off more than you can chew (rush hour, congested freeway traffic, etc.) until you are comfortable with the Spyder.

welcome to the family of :spyder: lovers :congrats: on your new toy I love the looky loos when we ride around and I was in 4th july puraid ion cape cod . feel it out and get used to her .

:agree:with bjt. Ease into it. No need to panic yourself in traffic right away. Besides, back roads with no traffic is more fun anyways.

welcome:congrats:

NMN will be your new best friend.

:agree:

Plus as one other poster said, pay attention to Scotty....

One other word of advice..... you will be asked a LOT of questions about your new ride. Treat each person as a future Spyder Ryder and never get the feeling that "I'm tired of answering questions" when someone asks you something about the bike.

Don't ride faster than your Angel can fly.

welcome:congrats: Lots of good advice here. Just like anything new, get used to it under less stress before you complicate matters. No question the Spyder is different. But different = Good in my book! Enjoy the ryde!!!

:congrats:welcome:congrats: if you can, set up a course in a parking lot, like a MFS course, practice running through it till you're comfortable, then tighten it up and do it again. Have fun, ryde safe.
And welcome to the family.

john

welcome :congrats:

I used to practice in a shopping center or medical center parking lot. We have an all but vacant shopping center here and most, if not, all medical centers are closed on Sundays. Also, school parking lots. These will all give you LOTS of room to overcome your hesitancies until you feel more comfortable.

welcome!

welcome
I tell two-wheelers that it's not a motorcycle, it's a rollercoaster without restraints!!:spyder2:

Way to go!!

welcome:congrats::clap::congrats: Practice and take your time to learn the machine. Be safe and welcome to our world.

Like your husband said since you have not ridden a two wheel much, you won't have much to un-learn, everyone here will help you. The main thing to unlearn is counter-steering you can't use it on a three wheeler. You have to steer your way around a corner. I read something on a conventional trike forum that helped me think of your arms as a push-pull cable you push with the right and pull with the left, and vise versa it made me smoother in the corners especially left and right turns. In practice push yourself a little more than you do on the street. You need to build your confidence on the bike in a safe environment. You will hear people speak ill of Nanny (the alphabet soup that controls the brakes and engine when you do something it does not like), but Nanny will save you if you do something moderately stupid. She just can't save you from something too stupid or the stupidity of some of the cage drivers. Just take it slow and push a little to raise the bar, you will be fine.:2thumbs::congrats:
