• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Newbie Question

Hello, all! I am a new owner of a 2014 RT Limited. What a machine! And, the wife loves it too. When the wife's happy... Anyway, my question is this: My local dealer tells me my bike had all of the servicing done to it before I signed for it. New back tire, belt tensioning, and oil and filter changes. He said that all servicing (oil, filters, etc.) have increased to 9300 miles between. Is this a reliable number?? Does synthetic oil last that long? Just want to get the straight info, don't want to mess up my new ride!!

He is correct. Or once a season whichever comes first.

:welcome: and :congrats: on your 2014.

Guess what? You have a dealer that actually got the oil change intervals right on the 1330 engine. You can get a print out of the service records from the dealer showing all the items done to the RT. Can't tell you about synthetic, that's for Baja Ron.

My :ani29: has had an oil change each year. No problems so far. I have been averaging 10K miles on this :spyder2: per season. This year will be way less, so it will get the once a year--needed or not oil change.

:agree: :welcome:
It's 9,300 miles, or one year...
Most folks don't seem to push it quite that far, and the debates about oil are as common in here, as the ones about tires, helmets, speed limits, DWAI checkpoints, etc... :D

:congrats:....:welcome:....The 1330 Ace engine has much longer service mileages between routine service. If you didn't get an OWNER'S MANUAL.......that is a Bad sign to me as far as dealer reliability......If you did get one , I think you should read it :dontknow: jmho........and Full Synthetics ( only oil I use ) are much better. There is debate on how long they will last in your Spyder.......The engine doesn't wear down the OIL......The transmission DOES , in the Spyders it's shared.....I don't go over 5,000 miles between changes, but only once per year on the Oil Filter.................good luck......Mike

Way to go.....

That is the recommended mileage for oil changes on the 1330 RT and F3 engines. Now as of yet I have not seen the testing of oils on these machines lasting that long. Most oils start loosing it around 4000 miles but you are covered according to brp. Your choice I don't go much over the 4000 jmo...

:lecturef_smilie: NoNoNoNoNoNoNoNoNo!!
It's a 1330 thing...

Service was completed when I bought the bike. It had 7600mi. If I read the manual correctly it states every 4600mi for the 998.
