• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Newbie has a question - is there a mechanical Park brake alternative?

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and a 1st time Spyder rider/owner. I've had my 2018 F3-T for approx two months and had the parking brake fail to release four times. After the last time, the cable disengaged from the pulley. From what I've learned from the knowledgeable members on this site, apparently, BRP doesn't car and I don't trust dealers. My question is; Has anyone seen, heard of or thought of a mechanical brake to replace the electric brake? My solution has been a wheel chock from Harbor Freight and it works just fine. I live in SoCal and can ride almost everyday. I'm not willing to have my trike sit at the dealer to repair a problem that, most likely, will raise it's ugly head again. I rode two wheels for over 40yrs and I love my Spyder. Should have gotten one a long time ago. Thank you for your comments.

Wheel chock. Few have had them replaced more than once. Maybe they can diagnose the problem, order parts, and let you have the bike back until they come in. Then take it in when ready.

Thanks. I'll give your suggestion a try. I just don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling for dealers but if they can solve the problem that's ok. I have a warranty on the trike so it shouldn't cost anything but time. I still like the idea of a mechanical brake.

I believe there is a fix out there for that issue, but I do not have it!! I have fix the issue on a RT, but not a F3! Had a friend come to me with a sticky cable on a RTL, got into it and lubed the system up and got it to work the way it should!

I know why you don't trust dealers Wheelman.
Had a problem with my parking brake from day one, thought about checking it out myself but Hey; it's a new bike let the dealer fix it. Made an appointment to drop it off and the weather turned crappy (snow on Mother's Day) so I didn't bother to check with the dealer about how the repair was going.. I stopped in after two weeks and was told it would be at least another two weeks before they would get to it. After another two weeks they finally got it fixed; a zip tie installed at the factory was interfering with the operation of the brake. They cut it off and everything was fine. If they had actually done the dealer prep that I was charged $225.00 for, they would have found the problem before delivery. I guess that goes along with the 7psi in each front tire. Should I have a problem in the future, it definitely will not be going back to that dealer.

I really hate these horror storied. It's bad for BRP and all of us who love the Spyder/Ryker. A dealer can do more good, or more damage to the brand than just about any other factor.
