• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Newbie accessory questions

Hi, just traded my Sportster and some cash for a 2009 Spyder GS. Had the wife on a ride and she wants a backrest. I have searched but only came up with the Smoothspyder model which looks great but at close to 500 bucks is a bit steep - any other suggestions? A suitable gently used backrest would do also. I will be getting the Rivco risers set which many forum members like and am looking into the BajaRon swaybar. I am no gearhead but was able to do my own basic maintenance on the Sportster so I think I should be able to handle the installation on these accessories. Any advice would be appreciated (I am not missing the Sportster!).

Check the sponsors of this page. Corbin, Ultimate have back rests cheaper than Can Am. Just make sure u get the right back for your year and model.
And if u get non Can Am, u may have to do some cutting so they fit.
‘Congrats and good luck.

Hi mickeydo,

Re: the Smoothspyder model

I have an '08 Spyder; almost exactly what you have.

I bought a used Smoothspyder model & it would not fit because I have a Corbin seat. The Corbin seat is quite wider than the factory seat.

I eventually sold it for what I paid for it.

Put a WANTED ad in the classifieds; you just might find one.

Best of luck,

Jerry Baumchen

I have the ‘08 gs and just put
on the rivco handle bar risers today. Watch out how they have the oarts labled. I installed what they labled as the left side, after i un wrapped what was labled as the rigjt side.. i had to take completly apart the left side again and put
on the correct riser. Sucked cause the reverse cable is a bish. It came with the backrest wind shield and air delectors already.
