• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mainly for New Zealand riders but others may be interested...already got two US Spyder Riders joining us

We're got an event called The Southern Shake where some North Island Spyder Riders will be travelling down to Christchurch to spend the weekend with us South Islanders at the end of October. There's several planned rides, the local dealers will be running some events for us and there's an evening dinner on the Saturday night.

We've setup a web site just to keep everyone up-to-date so if you want to find out more then take a look:
http://www.spydergt.nz

We'll be updating the site regularly as we get more information on what's going on each day.

Or if you're not happy clicking links like this then just PM me for details.

Thanks,

Jos

Sounds like fun! Wish we could join you as my wife and I always wanted to visit New Zealand. Maybe in two years (fingers crossed).

New Zealand

We will be visiting New Zealand and Australia this December unfortunately not with our Spyder .....but it would be awesome to be able to ride around around NZ on a Spyder as I believe that it is Beautiful place with great scenery.

Awesome. ..!!

Wish I could be there with the Jag...not happening but my daughter will be at a Tattoo convention there. She was just in Ireland and after NZ she will be in Puerto Rico....She will tell me all about it and maybe I will go with her next year...

Is that the one up in New Plymouth in November?

Spydernatic, drop me a PM with an idea of when where you'll be in Aus & I'll see if we can track down some Oz Spyder Ryders wherever you end up Down Under. I'm sure that if you message PistonBlown, he. & the South Is Kiwi Ryders will be very welcoming & look after you while you're there too, I know the North Island mob looked after me'n the Missus very well when we visited a while back!

Now all I gotta do is work out how to fund getting my Spyder across the Tasman ditch to EnZud so I can ride the South Island - I did some 2wheel riding there years ago, & have been looking for an excuse to take the Spyder ever since.....

I need to go the other way and get back over to Aus with a Spyder. Last time I rode over there it was on Honda XR 250 which was fine on dirt and around town but tiresome on the high ways.

Mind you I've got the travel bug bad at the moment, was plotting a route from Shanghai, China to Lisbon, Portugal the other night and wondering if it would be possible on a Spyder.

Well if you do get over here, you know there's always a welcome in South Oz

That would be the one...she is excited. I know Fred Rau does some awesome bike tour out your way too. When he does spyders it could be interesting. ..

I would love to do this someday. Are Spyders available for rent for the event?

I used to have a Burgman and there was a blog about a guy who rode to the southern tip of Italy before he went home to Australia. He shipped his Burgman to Korea, then flew to SE Asia and bought a 250cc bike. He rode that all over SE Asia and China, sold it and took a ferry to S. Korea. Took delivery on his Burgman and took a ferry to eastern Russia. He then rode across Siberia, through Scandinavia and then south across Europe. I think his main problem was when it was parked. The handlebars were locked and someone forced them to turn. I think he had some tools and tires with him, but I don't remember just how it went. At any rate, he made it the whole way. What an adventure.

I found the story about it here: http://burgmanusa.com/forums/22-road-stories/25086-burgman-650-across-russia.html
