• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New York Motorcycle Show

My wife and I are going tomorrow Friday to avoid the crowds of the weekend. The only thing I don't like is that they are only open from 2pm to 9pm on the first day.

From the CanAm booth. First thing right by the front door.

There were a lot of people around the CanAm booth. About 6 to 8 F3's and 3 or 4 RT's. The Turbo F3 prototype was there as well. Had great conversations with the people there. When the BRP folks found out I already had one, the first question from everyone was "are you coming to Homecoming?" And I didn't hear anything bad from other riders.

The F3-T with the Coast-To-Coast seat is soooo comfy.

Some of the custom bikes that were competing.

The major manufacturers were there: BMW, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, Indian, Victory, Harley, and Ducati. Even Royal Enfield and Ural were there and Polaris had a couple of Slingshots.

A few more custom bikes:

This was interesting: a custom, reverse trike Indian:

Nicest people (other than the CanAm booth?) Believe it or not, the Harley booth.

On a personal note, I still have the knees, ankles, and hips I was born with and they still work pretty good. But I have serious doubts I'd be able to hold up a 6, 7, or 800 pound bike, let alone once you load it up with bags and/or a pillion. For each manufacturer it was a pretty even mix between bikes that were mounted in wheel stands vs. ones that were just on their kickstands. There were a few that I had a difficult time getting them upright off their stands. No confidence I'd be able to pick one up I dropped without help.

But that Indian Dark Horse sure is a beautiful machine. So is the Indian Heritage with buckskin fringe everywhere. The Springfield? Better love chrome.

Honda had a demo bike with an automatic transmission mounted on a portable dyno. It can be in fully-automatic mode (it does all the shifting for you) or a semi-automatic mode where it works similar to the Spyder SE-6. However the paddle shifter is opposite of ours (shift up with your trigger finger, shift down with your thumb.)

Finally, no words for this beast:

One last thing: while talking with one of the guys in the CanAm booth I mentioned I was disappointed that the RS and ST were discontinued. He agreed with me then said "but you never know what might be coming next" with a smile. Could be an interesting June in Valcourt.

What's your opinion on the new F3L? Wanted to go to the show mainly to get a close look at the new F3L but quite a hike for me. The dealers in my area say they won't have one until early spring. I love my RTS (2015) but really like the seating position of the F3. Having a hard time deciding if I would want to trade or not. I have quite a list of farkles I wanted to do this winter but hate to spend the money and then swap. Thanks, Wayne.
