There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE TOLL

OK what happened to Dr. John ticked me off. Sooooooooo I checked on-line in a dozen places and was pretty sure the RATE would be for that of a CAR.....However, I like to be really sure soooooooo I found an 800 # and called that........after asking the QUESTION I was put on HOLD for 5 minutes and was then apologized to by the call-ee........since She didn't know She found a supervisor who told Her ......the Rate for a registered Motorcycle ( 2 or 3 wheel ) was $ 4.75 with an EZ-Pass .........that is the discounted normal rate of $ 5.00..... Where Dr. John got $ 9.50 for a car I have no idea.....and you only pay Eastbound.............Your all welcome ......END OF THREAD :yes::yes::yes:...........I HOPE   :pray:Mike

Something is not right here. I an use EZPass on my Spyder. I have never been charged that kind of money. The Spyder, according to my statement is classed as a 2L. The toll I pay for the Tappan Zee Bridge, with my trailer, is $4.75. I do have the trailer registered with EZPass, but do not have a transponder for it, only the Spyder. The tolls on the Garden State Parkway are higher, as in NJ with the trailer, it is considered to be 3 axles. Are you using an EZPass, and if so, is it motorcycle specific? If not, you will pay higher tolls, and even higher tolls if you are paying cash.

Ez pass

John, it was a bit of a pain, but if you go through the ez pass web site you can find the steps to register your motorcycle and get a discounted rate on the tolls. You will need to,send in a copy of the registration to prove you have a motorcycle and then you will get a transponder with a big M on the back. I have one for the spyder and it works well. I'm still fine tuning the best location for it while riding, mostly in my jacket upper pocket seems to work.

I tried under the frunk hood

Here's where I hid mine...

I tried it velcroed directly to the underside of hood and it did not work. I'll give that spot a try this spring when I'm out and about. The part that sucks, is calling ez pass everytime it doesn't work correctly.

I tried the funklid also without success... the dang thing kept coming loose, and ending up laying at the bottom of the frunk... :banghead:

traveled most of the NY parkway on my way home last year; paying cash and is was $14.50 or something close to that when I exited to Canada.

I usually have mine velcroed underneath the hood as well and it has always worked except for once. Since I registered the plate with NY EZ-Pass they charged me correctly based on that instead.

My ezpass has a black "M" for motorcycle on the back of it. Are you possibly using a car ezpass and confusing the system?

NY is unfriendly to more than just Trikes. Try owning a gun or a business in NY. When you have nothing better to do check out the difference in prices to cross the Hudson from the GW bridge to the Newburg bridge.

I use to work for the GSP, not as a toll taker but in technology. If you were not towing a trailer you should have been charged for 2 axles. I used NJ EZ pass on NY trips and was charged for 2 axles.

As to placement of toll passes...I"m in Florida and use Sunpass. I stick mine onto the inside of my windshield when I'm going to use toll roads and simply take it off when I'm parked. I've tried a variety of ways to use it in the frunk and haven't come up with a good one yet.

John

You git screwer blued and tatooed.

Must have known your a dr. and have money.:roflblack:

It's registered as motorcycle. Think i would have shown mt registration

The ez pass issue has been discussed many times on here. I have mine attached under the frunk it has never fallen off after thousands of miles. To the left we hang our sunglasses and they have never fallen off and to the right there are 2 pieces of Velcro for my garage door opener and it has fallen off one time but the Velcro did not come off.

I thoroughly clean the surface with rubbing alcohol then apply. I do not use the normal Velcro for the ez pass. I use the stuff the PA DMV supplies.

You Yanks still using those little white boxes!!Your DMV needs to upgrade. Here in BC Canada we use an electronic decal that does the same signal process. It sticks to your headlight on a bike or under the mirror on the windshield of a car.Has a real tiny electronic chip in it for toll bridges.

Inside the frunk lid. It has never fallen off. I just used the Velcro strips that came with it. Works everywhere except the Beacon-Newburg bridge. Don't ask my why, I have no idea.

Probably because the bridge and tunnel authorities feel if it ain't broke, don't fix it

Update 2/26/16: I got a call from the NY Thruway Authority today. The person said he agrees with me totally. He has no idea where that classification came from. They will change it in the next few days. A motorcycle should be charged the same whether it is 2 or three wheels. Anyone who was overcharged will get a refund.
