• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello
my daughter and her boyfriend are planning to go next summer in New York for two weeks. Someone shall know a cheap hosting and security solution in this great city?

Thank you for your cooperation

 There's not much, that's "Cheap", in New York City... :yikes:
Since she has almost a year to plan for this adventure; I'm sure that some answers can be found.

Hotel

ok NYC mass fanastic is outstanding so you could stay north of the city Ossening NY and take the trian into the City

When my friend and I went to New York 5 years (!!!) ago we stayed in a hotel in North Bergen, NJ. It was only about $60-$70 a night and the really nice thing was they didn't charge for parking! That's what got me about staying in the city - the charge for parking was almost as much as the charge for the hotel rooms!:yikes: There was a bus that picked you up from the front of the hotel (only charged $2.50) and took you right into the city and would take you back at night. Don't remember the name of the hotel but there is a Holiday Inn there also. Hope that helps

hotels in new york will make you broke, i would suggest that they stay in the out lying areas like queens by the airport and take a train into the city to sight see

Forget the Hotels ... the PARKING will break the bank even quicker! :yikes:
It's probably easier and less-costly, to just steal a car each day that you're in the City...
Leave it where it can be found, and get a fresh one on the next day! :joke:

Wow Bob, what a great idea!!!:banghead: Are you going to road trip to Ossining to bail them out of jail?!?!?:dontknow:

are they going to rent a car, are they party animals that will stay out late?
are they going to do a lot of walking or shopping?
have them think about those things to decide where they might want to stay.

There are some comparatively good deals a airbnb.com - If you don't know the studio I"d talk with somebody who does before choosing "where" you want to be. If you stay outside of Manhattan, try to be close to a subway so you can easily go into the city. You don't want a car in Manhattan or anything else you need to find parking for.
