There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New Wheels

Hi - first just wanted to say hello. I just got an F3-S Triple Black (SE6) and have been scouring this forum for lots of useful information.

I had a question and I wanted to ask whether anyone had done this or foresees any problems....I want to change the front wheels to a slightly wider and larger wheel.

Now so far I have read that:

- The stability control reads wheel speed and that is integral to its function so you can't increase the overall diameter above stock or it goes into Limp Mode.
- The stock tire is 165 x 65 x 15, which happens to have the same diameter as the 205 x 40 x 17, so I assume I can move to a 17" wheel on those new tires.
- The extra weight of the wheel and tire will massively influence the behaviour on the road, so match the weight as close as possible.
- Get the wheels cut to the correct PCD of a Spyder so you don't use spacers/adaptors that will push the weight out further and make the forces even worse.

Now assuming that is all as read, my question is given how I am increasing tire width by 40mm, should I get the offset so that I have an extra 20mm inside the hub and 20 mm outside the hub to balance it out? I am thinking that would have least likely impact on upsetting the traction control and minimize the extra forces on the suspension? Does that make sense? If anyone has a view on the best way forward I would really appreciate it.

Again, nice to meet you all and thanks in advance for any advice. Chris

Hi Chris! :welcome:
Are you basing your calculations on 165/65-15?
(The actual size is 165/55-15...)
It probably would be best to spread the extra 40mm out evenly.
And NOT having to use adapters with the wheels would be preferable...

I can't wait to see what you build... :2thumbs:

Oops. Great spot :). That would have been a school boy error to have based all the calcs off the wrong original tire size!! I'll redo them with the correct tire sizes.

Thanks again.

I'm glad to help... :D
It would be a shame to waste to so much effort...

Welcome. ..

Welcome to the best site for spyders around and to the spyder world.. nice choice of rydes..:2thumbs: Sorry I don't do tires and rims..:roflblack:

If you make the tire wider and you make the rim offset equal inside and out
You want to make sure the tire will not interfere with the body work

Another question

Congrats on your great taste in Spyders!! I just purchased a 2016 F3 LTD Triple Black myself. I originally put a down payment on a regular LTD and ordered the chrome Pulley Cover, Chrome TMC Cover, and Chrome frame caps. Now that i'm getting the triple black, does anyone know if it is possible to BLACK CHROME AN ALREADY CHROMED PIECE? :lecturef_smilie::pray:
